Irfan was sent back from the SA tour in 2006, similarly the selectors should omit Mithun from the Aus tour and pick a deserving candidate. Wouldn't mind if he is replaced by even Vinay Kumar. His action seems to be worse now than when he played in SL last year. Not sure what changes he has made and on whose advice.

Good point, I was thinking if there is a precedent for a player being removed from a touring squad for purely form reasons (rather than injury/indiscipline). It really will do neither India nor the bowler himself any good to be taken on this trip.

Knowing how BCCI functions, Zaheer's replacement would face visa issues and will not be able to reach Aus in time and by the time replacement arrives, Mithun would be bowling his 120 kph pies in the middle.

He certainly should not be playing ODI cricket, Both Aravind and Nechim A have better List A records. Aravind was suddenly not good enough though he did not even get an match. This is the problem with picking players for test cricket after just one good FC season. Should have had another year to see if he could perform with consistency before being tried for India. I have never seen him bowl for Karntataka but by all accounts he was pacy , nothing like that here though he has shown the heart and stamina that he has at FC level. Vinay K has been more consistent over a few seasons for his state. And he is a swing bowler so a better replacement for Praveen. All being well Mithun will not get a game though. Maybe the bouncier wickets will bring about a change

:haha: UG is right though. Mithun himself reached the WI late for the Test series earlier this year because of visa issues. Same happened to Umesh during the World T20 last year.
