Parvinder Awana aims to touch 150kmph

He is a latecomer to the Indian Premier League (IPL) but Delhi pacer Parvinder Awana is fast showing he belongs on the big stage. Team Punjab have become increasingly reliant on Awana, who says he is looking to bowl fast and flat out irrespective of the situation. With nine wickets in four matches at an economy rate of around seven an over, the 25-year-old has already grabbed a lot of attention from the people who matter. Impressive with the new ball, Awana has relied on the seam-up stuff in a format which demands variations in pace. Now, Awana says he's looking to breach the 150kmph mark. "Somebody said that I clocked 147 kmph against Mumbai on Wednesday in Mohali. Now I'll be looking to touch 150. I bowled a few slower ones in Mumbai but in Mohali, I didn't feel the need to bowl any of them," Awana told TOI. Ignored after attending camps for Team Kolkata and nets sessions for Team Mumbai in the past two seasons, Awana has had an agonizing wait to get into the IPL. No wonder he's so keen on making his presence felt this season. Sometimes he lets the pent-up emotions out, like the uncharacteristic outburst after dismissing Mumbai's Rohit Sharma on Wednesday. "I have done it to Irfan Pathan in a Ranji Trophy game this season too," Awana quipped. "It feels great that players like Adam Gilchrist and David Hussey are heaping praise on me. What was more heartening was that Shaun Pollock and Robin Singh had come to my dinner table and congratulated me," said Awana, who trained with Mumbai this season and the previous one before being picked up by Punjab. While he is enjoying every bit of what the IPL is throwing at him, the highlight has been bowling to Sachin Tendulkar twice in the space of three days. Running in against Chris Gayle, he says, has been the biggest challenge. Awana said, "The margin of error is so less against these top batsmen. But having done well against both is very pleasing. It's just that Gayle tore into me later in the match. He can do it to anyone!"

He is fast medium 135-143K range, far away from being fast, but is more accurate than Umesh Yadav and has been decent overall. Still there is no young bowler I found as good as Patrick Cummins and James Pattinson.

Still there is no young bowler I found as good as Patrick Cummins and James Pattinson.[/quote'] i think ur forgetting pattinson wasnt this good at start u will not find international class bowlers from our domestic criket forget abt it wht we need to look for is some potential which can be developed further and tbh this guy awana has been the most promising he can swing the ball when condition favour him is quick enough and can bowl at death

don know abt fastest but his stock ball has been 140-141k and thts wht counts really :P

He looks a class apart from the other Indian bowlers, PK , VK look like POOP in front of him.even today in the intense heat he regularly clocked 142-144 kmph. Looks a find to me.
