Needforspeed Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Does'nt matter whether Sachin gets a hundred or not. Important thing is Team India should win. There is no fun if Sachin gets his hundred and India lose the series.

zen Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Sunny did not equal Bradman's record but merely had as many 100s as Bradman ----> To equal the record you have to get that many 100s in similar number of innings, if not exactly the same .... Different ways to look at things :winky: It's like someone climbs mt. everest 2 times in 3 attempts, while the other guy does that in 13 attempts and then goes on to climb it 3 times in 15 attempts .... yes, he would be the guy to have climbed it the most number of times but it's not record-breaking by any means If Indians have to be world beaters in general, they need to look at what is 'record breaking' in a different way and push themselves accordingly .... if we understood that we wouldn't have a Kapil trundling to get past hadlee for the sake of a number

zen Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 In the spirit of "looking at things differently" ... why don't you come up with a list of bowlers of The class of a Holding' date=' Marshall , Garner , Imran, Waz that SMG faced without resorting to hurling some peurile retorts sprinkled with various assortment of smilies in response or your usual diversionary tactics ? Lets see some names shall we?.[/quote'] That's irrelevant since they played in different eras .... if they played in the same era, may be we could resort to "cherry picking" Below is for your reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisden_100 Since you are a die hard Sachin fan, based on the parameters, you set, are you willing to except that since none of Sachin 100s feature in the top 50, his 100s are not worth the same as the ones rated in the top 50
Laaloo Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 In few yrs time nobody would care even if we lost the series ... But the 100th will never be forgotten. Its not like we have a spotless record vs Aus. Its the exact same situation Sunny was in when he equaled Bradmans record. Why wouldn't anyone care if we lost the test series? Fact is, we have never won a series in Australia. We just got our asses handed to us in our last overseas series in England and now on the twilight of their careers, the maharathis HAVE to prove by winning this damn series. I don't give a fk about this 100th 100 if we lose the series. I'm pretty sure Sachin wouldn't either.

zen Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 You answer my question CLEARLY if you want an answer to yours. So who are the bowlers of that class ? As I said that point is irrelevant ....
Laaloo Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 because we have lost a gazillion test series before and Iam pretty sure you don't give a flying fk about them now ... I do give a fk when the likes of Sachin and Dravid were prodding at Cape Town 06. That pathetic partnership got us nowhere and basically killed all hopes of us winning our first test series overseas other than NZ I suppose. I did give a fk when our middle order freaking succumbed to the likes of Arshan Khan and Afretard at Bangalore in 05 after Sehwag got out. I did give a fk when Kumble didn't declare early at Bangalore 07 and we had the pakis 6 down. Even Yuvraj was getting wickets and freaking Bhajji was bowling darts :banghead: I did give a fk when Dhoni didn't declare early against NZ in 09 when we had a freaking 500+ runs lead. There are countless other examples. I want Sachin to score a 100 as much as anyone else, but if we lose the test series. I will remember it as a lost test series rather than a Sachin 100 especially after our debacle in England earlier this year.

yoda Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 iam pretty sure that Iam significantly older than you and I have been thru a whole truckloads of fails as far as Indian cricket is concerned ... Nothing I say here will convince you about my point ... but you will figure it out on your own in due course ... Winning is not everything. Try to find joy in the small things. for example appreciate how the Aussie media is dishing out kind words towards Tendulkar. Or how the English fondly consider him as one of their own and flocked to the grounds to witness history. This event aint happening again in your lifetimes and it is solely upto you as to how memorable and fond you want to make it. As far as Iam concerned I aint going to let any douchebag on ICF or any self loathing Indian media men deprive me of my pleasure. Yea anyone who claims that team is more important in a team sport is a douchebag and a self loather. :winky:

If we lose this series as well then that talk will only amplify. Sachin's 100th is very much secondary to that.
yoda Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 According to BB, RD fan(atic)s should be very happy with the Eng series. Like he said who gives a feck about series results anyways? It is all about the individual 100s. :hehe:
