This series has major implications for the 2 sides individually, but overall none of them look good enough to unseat the 2 best test teams at this time (odi lovers england and chokers south africa). Unless it is a whitewash by either side india or australia will not gain ground on the top 2.

based on current form and quality, india will win this 2-0. australia are just lacking the batting quality, just finished off watching the highlights of aus v nz, and excuse of green top is peripheral, their the aus batsmen just looked out depth at test level, luckily warner edged and swung his way to a 100, phil hughes is a sitting duck, khawaja is incapable getting anything more than 20, ponting's career is finished, hussey looks woefully out of form, haddin cue hussey, the lone hope for australia is the form of clark. if india manage a big score of 450-500, then australia batting will just crumble against an attacking field strategy especially if a fit zaheer and the surprise package ashwin hit their strides. i mean when is the last time australia scored 400plus.

Bowling is the big problem. I'm pretty sure batting wont fail like it did in England. But Zaheer is iffy for all tests, Ishant is carrying an injury. Yadav is decent but the rest of the seam bowling options just dont seem to be able to cause any worries to the opposition. Good bowling can often cover up the failure of poor batting, but the reverse is very rarely true.

Dude I wouldn't go that far. I'm quite optimistic after their loss to NZ, but we have our own issues. Remember Zak's fitness is always going to be dodgy and there is every chance he will pull out of the tour after Melbourne or Sydney. Ishant and Yadav are capable bowlers but they don't have the combination of experience and total mastery of skills that Zak does.

I haven't gone through the whole thread or the link in the OP but .... One can expect a good performance from Aus since they are playing at home. OZ should start as the fav .... if Sehwag and Zak (if fit), the two match winners for Ind, fire, Ind can pull this off 2-1 And ofc, expecting others in the line up to get some runs too .... along with Yadav and Ashwin enhancing their reputation. May be Ishant can bowl a magic spell too Obviously our batting will have to click to make us competative, and if our bowling attack pulls out good perfor in say 3-4 innings out of a possible 8, winning two tests is possible Summery test A ----> batting ok to good + bowling crap = Ind lose test B ----> batting good to excellent + bowling ok to good = draw test C ----> batting excellent + bowling good to excellent = Ind win test D ----> batting good to excellent + bowling excellent = Ind win :--D
