G_B_ Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Its amazing how some things never change. In England too they kept Zaheer on in England for a long time without asking for a replacement. Having seen what happended there' date=' why cant they fly in someone as cover even if they want to keep Ishant for some more time. The new bowler will get some time to get used to the conditions and the Kukkubura balls.[/quote'] to be fair they already have Mithun and Vinay out there. India have listed 5 seamers from the very get go Zaheer Praveen Ishant Umesh Aaron Then they replaced immediately Zaheer Umesh Ishant Vinay Mithun so there was cover already there. We announced a squad a bit heavy of pace.

Dinda or even Pathan would be better options under Australian conditions. Of course what one really hopes is Ishant can play even if he is pumped full of Cortisone shots and painkillers.

Of course he should play only if he can manage to bowl his full quota. If it is only a swelling and not a major injury, Cortisone can keep him running for 5 days ( I am no expert, but this is what some guys in the know tell me). A replacement is also an excellent option, provided it is better than VK or Mithun.
zaheer Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Ishant fit for 1st Test; team management rules out substitution The Indian cricket team will not seek a cover for injured pacer Ishant Sharma as he is expected to be fit for the opening Test against Australia next week even though he has been ruled out of a three-day practice match starting, in Canberra, on Monday. "The doctor has advised him rest till Monday. So we would have a fresh look at him on Tuesday. But the work on him is going on and he's improving," media manager G S Walia said. http://www.rediff.com/cricket/slide-show/slide-show-1-australia-tour-india-ishant-fit-test-substitution-tendulkar-zaheer-sehwag/20111218.htm

Lord Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 fit or not,I hope its Umesh who gets the new ball, not Sharma.Yadav bowls outswingers n would use it better,Ishant tends to waste the new ball by bowling wide outside off
amiret Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Ishant definitely ruled out of the first test. I wonder why Indian team management had to concoct lies by saying Ishant intended to bowl only 5-6 overs in the tour opener.

Why delay the inevitable and bring in a replacement at the last minute, who will then have no time to adjust to Aussie conditions? Basic mistakes repeated every single tour by the richest cricketing body in the world.

He also induced edges which seemed to upset Sehwag. RP Singh anyone? no thanks he has lost his swing and pace
Vijay.Sharma Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Fly in Irfan and throw Lambu out of the team

Sammy got him a number of times in the last series. no thanks he has lost his swing and pace Yes but he hasn't lost his killer smile. The Aussies will never be able to sledge RP, because like Munaf, he does not understand a word of English, let alone the Aussie accent. The mere sight of a pregnant RP smiling back after having his 120 kph thunderbolt smashed out of the ground will destroy the Aussies psychologically.

Old guy Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 well mithun bowled better than vk in practice match man tomorrows game is gonna be interesting LOL i think they might rest yadav
Cricket Tragic Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 It will be a massive risk to play him in the first test if he does not play the warm-up game. We already have Zaheer Khan to worry about.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Yep think of ZAk and ishu bth getting unfit in the middle of the match after 6 overs and India si surely loosing then actually india play jst 4 bowlers even 1 bcomes unfit india wl lOose india needs all 4 tyres to be fit as india does not have a stepny tyre in the form of a allrounder Irfan...india "s stepny is sehwag
