Cannot believe people are bashing one of India's biggest matchwinners ever. Selfish? Rahul Dravid? He is probably the most selfless cricketers who have ever played the game. Only on ICF... you guys call yourself Indian Cricket fans? Should be ashamed of yourself. Please GTFO OK, as he has aged, his slip catching has waned. That is fine. But he is still one of our best cricketers and our best in the last few seasons for sure.

Some embarrassing comments in this thread. I have no doubt that Dravid has taken more body hits than any other batsman in the modern game. His commitment cannot be questioned. He has done so much for Indian cricket. Even if he was a liability (and he is blatantly not - he has scored 1000 runs this year ffs!), he has earned the right not to be called a 'cancer'. Dravid is an excellent bat still as england tour proved but he should not be at first slip. I would put viru there. Dravid should be elsewhere where a drop is less likely. You need very good reflexes at slip and Dravid has lost this. This is why he drops sitters but still ocassionaly will pull of a stunner. He is on the decline in this regard.

Nothing less than a match winning innings in the 4th can absolve Dropvid of his crime. Drop has already costed 16 runs in partnerships. It will prove decisive in the end, He literally dropped the BG series. A sitter at that.

For a man who is in the form of his life it is very surprising to see him get bowled 3 times. He just is not able to cover the fast in cutters from the Aussie bowlers, i suspect this could very well be the last series for this great man. I am sure he must be feeling bad about the dropped catches as well which is happening quite frequently and if he doesnt have a big series i think he will call it quits.

Calm down, its wasn't that long back when Dravid piled on hundreds when others in the team found it gard to cross double figures. I know he hasn't looked that convincing in this game, but I am sure he will have lot more in store at Sydney. We just can't win the first Test match in an overseas series :(

Not only was Dravid a saving grace he scored 3 centuries in 4 test matches and played one of the finest innings at the Oval. I agree that we fanatics (well some of us at least) go over the line in praise for the great man. But one mustn't forget the people surrounding the man himself who has held the team together and made them world beaters. When you think of saving a match on the fifth day, or when you think of a man who can see off the day's play, or when you want someone to see off the new ball - the first name that comes to your mind is Dravid. He isn't a flamboyant player, but boy is he not a glorious strokeplayer? The sweet sound of the ball after it hits his willow is a treat to watch. I have grown watching these two play, I find myself so privileged. I can never think of demeaning one to prove the others' superiority, in fact no one could, simply because these two legends are the best India has ever produced. I understand people showing fanaticism on the internet with some fascinating posts, but to show it by spewing venom, is simply unacceptable. Obviously not and I've said so in some earlier post on this thread. However, the fact is that lack of first class cricket has meant our close in catching standards have gone down the drain and there is no ready replacement for him.
