ViruRulez Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 MUMBAI: The Navghar police has registered three cases of rape. In all the cases, the victims were in a physical relationship with the accused who promised marriage and later backed out. The police have arrested all the three accused. One of the victims, a minor, is two months pregnant. The first case involved a 21-year-old sweeper Ashok Rathod andhas been arrested on charges of a 16-year-old girl who is two months' pregnant at Bunderwadi in Bhayander (east). Rathod and the victim were working in the same locality. Rathod befriended the victim four months ago while she was working in a factory. Rathod worked as the sweeper there. He got into a physical relation with her and promised her marriage. When the victim discovered that she was two months pregnant, she approached Rathod to marry her. But he refused. The victim's parents filed a police complaint. In the second case, an estate agent Vivek Sinha (39) allegedly assaulted a 38-year-old woman with whom he had a relationship since 2009. He had met the woman while showing her rented accommodations. The two got into a relationship and Sinha promised to get married to the victim. Recently, when the victim demanded they get married, he assaulted her. In the third case, the accused Shankar Ganjam and the victim were business partners for the past 11 years. The two were in a physical relationship that soured after Ganjam refused to wed. The victim expressed her desire to get out of the business as well. She demanded the Rs 5 lakhs she had invested in the business. Ganjam instead assaulted her and threw her out of the business. The victim filed a rape case against the accused. All the three accused men have been arrested by the police. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Three-refuse-to-marry-held-for-rape/articleshow/11272496.cms Interesting. Except the first case of the minor, the other cases looks quite dodgy. To be honest, India is still a gender biased (in favor of female gender) and quota biased (in favor of lower castes, minorities etc.) which is quite sad. There should be uniform laws in India which does not seem to be happening.
DomainK Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Imo if the law seriously thinks women are so naive and stupid, their voting rights should be revoked.

Clarke Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Looks like the dumb police did not get the updated memo. What was the verdict of the SC that mentioned Krishna & Radha living together ?
