I have no faith in this batting line up any more where Gambhir is out of form, Sehwag will hardly ever succeed on a green track and Laxman is too inconsistent these days. After them you just can't count on anyone. VK and Dhoni are FTBs and lower order might give you 20-30 runs maximum. So? Our only hope is bowling. I know how ironic it sounds but thats it. And we have to back it up by taking all the catches for heavens sake!! Or else even this test is gone!! This is where we need Punter as captain. After Edgbaston 2005, he'd bat first irrespective of the surface. :cantstop:

Even Kohli made runs in India. Scoring in Australia on a seaming track is a different ball game.

Most of our wins on green/seaming/bouncy tracks (Perth, Wanderers, Johannesberg, Headingley etc.) came when we batted first. The reason is that there's no scoreboard pressure and we can score as many we can without any worries or concerns. Secondly we won't have to chase in helpful conditions. I say we should bat first no matter what. We can't do much batting last and batting first is the way to go.
