Coach Motu Fletcher's time is running out!!!

I am beginning to think Duncan Fletcher is a ISI agent planted to by the effin Pakistanis to screw up our team. How the hell did we get from world cup winning, no.1 test ranked team to a team that will struggle to give the Bang Bros. a run for their money? :(( Somebody should install cameras in DuncanÃÔ room and monitor his movements. I think heÃÔ deliberately adding sedatives to our players breakfast when no-oneÃÔ looking.

Coaching retreads seldom work out, be it any sport. Even in leagues such as NFL a much vaunted coach like Parcells or Joe Gibbs could never recreate the magic with a new team. Fletcher's best days were with England and there was no need to hire him. We should have gone with a younger coach with fresh ideas and energy like we went for Wright or Kirsten. Likes of Whatmore and Fletcher are has beens and their time is over. We need to look at someone like Stephen Fleming to hire as a coach who actually understand what the players are going through rather than a over the hill dinosaur or a "bbabu" types who sits in a chair and spouts orders.

what has stephen fleming ever done as a coach? the guy runs an IPL side. that doesnt count. and ppl dont seem to realise that kirsten learned how to coach from fletcher. that was the whole reason why BCCI appointed fletcher in the first place, because they wanted continuity with a similar kind of coach. fletcher is the least of our problems and will do his best work with the younger players. he also has a great eye for talent and prioritizes the selection of talented players by putting minimum importance on FC records. all the idiots here who routinely ask for bowling speeds should thank fletcher for the selection of guys like umesh and varun aaron, who have mediocre FC experience compared to other indian FC bowlers.

As I mentioned Fleming can at least empathise with the players and be on the same wavelength. Fletcher played the game in 80s and probably doesn't even know what the modern players have to go through. You select coaches on potential and not what they have already done else we would never had Wright or Kirsten as coaches. It's always good to have a younger man as a coach to handle the pressure and bring in fresh ideas - Fletcher was ok 10 years back, not anymore. I used Fleming as an example and we can go with another player such as Mark Taylor. I find Taylor to be knowledgeable and quite sharp and he very well could be an ideal replacement for Kirsten.l

wright had solid coaching pedigree before he got the india job. he was recommended by dravid when the two worked together in county cricket at kent. u could make that argument about kirsten, although i think of him as more of an exception. age doesnt determine how good a coach is. please tell me some of the 'fresh ideas' u have seen from coming out of someone like fleming? even you and me could run an IPL team together. interested?? as for taylor, he is even fatter than duncan fletcher, i dont think our wise group of icfers would approve of that selection.

Being fat is not the criteria, it's the fresh approach that matters. Fletcher, like Whatmore, has been coach for so long he's jaded and I doubt he could do much. I would go with a younger coach as age does have an affect on how much you can give mentally to the job. A 65-70 year old has been won't be as good as a 40 year old newbie coach trying to make his name IMO. Even the recent examples of good coaches proves the theory with likes of Moody, Kirsten, Wright (2001) all good examples of successful coaches. To me likes of Fleming and Taylor fall in the same category and I feel they can help us much more than likes of Fletcher.

LOL, u must have some inside info if u can tell if fletcher is 'JADED'...i cant argue with that. anyway, tell me some of the tazaa tazaa FRESH ideas fleming and tubby taylor have demonstrated ppl are just looking for a scapegoat. the firangi gora makes for an easy target because indians are too sensitive to talk about the REAL PROBLEMS - the aging seniors, inept captain, etc.

Taylor and Fleming can't be any worse than Fletcher is and I already stated my rationale for the pick.

so just to be clear the rationale for sacking him is: 'taylor and fleming are younger, and therefore automatically better coaches even tho they have no credentials or coaching experience to speak of'. very good.

No, the rationale is that Fleming and Taylor, or someone younger who has played the game more recently than Fletcher, will be more in tune with the times than Fletcher who played in 80s and presided over a 5-0 Ashes whitewash last he toured Australia. Plus going by what we've seen of other successful coaches recently (Moody, Kirsten, Flower, Wright and Buchannan) Taylor/Fleming/XYZ is more likely to be successful than Fletcher. As for coaching pedigree, I am sure Kirsten had great "coaching credentials" :giggle:

u see Gary Kirsten was a hansdome bloke, he spent most of his time exercising, striving to stay fit and all that, whlie Flether only seems to be eating all the time. where is the motivation for the boiz to perform for the coach? :--D yea i know lower than a lame joke

I hope Fletcher meets the same fate as Woolmer for the sake of Indian cricket.
No just fire him from his job and let him get on with his life. Appoint someone more modern and young. Also make wholesome changes to the Indian team . Get the oldies out. The new guys may not perform immediatly, but the present rot has to be stemmed.

Isn't it a little childish to call him "Motu" and that too in the thread title?
are u motu urself? then i can understand, otherwise fletcher deserves some MC BC used as adjectives besides his name
