BeautifulGame Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 WHo should be our Captain what should be our line up for our next test series? We play our next test series against Newzealand at home in september. After that we have a big series against England at home.So keeping that in mind what line up and which captain do u prefer for our next series against New zea land? I think its time Dhoni steps down as captain and all our seniors are dropped regardless of their batting from if they refuse to retire. They have embarrassed us enough in test cricket. We need to make drastic changes now to the test team like we did to our ODI team after the 2007 world cup. Gambhir (captain) Rahane Pujara Sehwag Rohit Kohli Dhoni Zaheer Umesh Ashwin Ohja I dont give a damn anymore about how great our seniors were in the past. Its time we look towards the future.
asterix Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 ^ Good team..Don't want Dhoni in the test team at all. He's thinking of retiring next year, anyway. Time to groom a new wicketkeeper/batsman..
saneindian Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 MSD doesn't deserve a spot either. Give Saha a proper go in tests.
Pagalpanti Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I'd like to see, Gambhir leading the team. Gambhir* Mukund Kohli Rohit Sehwag Pujara/Tiwary/Rahane New Keeper Ashwin Yadav Zak Aaron/Ishant/Ojha

Good side but Gambhirs form has been uncertain of late, I am not sure he should skipper too to add to that. I woinder if he was not captain how much pressure MSD's place as WK would be under?! Anyways Id stick with him as captain and would go with pretty much the same team as you. Perhaps open with Mukund and a bench of Rahane, Tiwary, Varun and a spinner...Rahane could bat at 3 depending on Pujaras form.
rabinjackman Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 same team will be gud enuff for NZ at home
Sooda Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 How about Rahane, Mukund, Gambhir*, Pujara, Rohit, Kartik, R Jadeja, Ashwin, Praveen, Umesh, Rahul Sharma :D
Crookbond Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Dinesh Kaarthik may be the next logical choice. We shouldn't make him open though.
prashsenga Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Rahane Mukund Gambhir( VC) --> Pujara shadowing Sachin --> Sehwag / badri shadowing Virat Rohit KD karthik Ashwin Zak( Cap) Sreesanth/ irfan Umesh/Varun standby - ishant, Pujara sehwag, dravid, laxman and dhoni need to go.. dhoni not because he is a bad wk but because he has been captain and we cannot share same vibes by dropping him as a captain and just playing as player. that does not cut ice. Give Zak a year or two with captaincy get stephen fleming as coach or at best get ganguly Bowling coach - ian pont or fanie de villiers support staff - poach haryana state team support staff get some fundoo kids who can analyze videos and find weakness in opposition
NareshK Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I think all these guys will do well at home and that's where we are playing tests for the next couple of years. So I dont think the selectors will drop Dravid or Laxman. They will probably still play another year and retire. Gambhir's form has not been great. So he is not an automatic choice for captain as his place in the side itself is not guaranteed. Zaheer's fitness is poor. He may well get injured before a series and the selectors may have to look for alternative. So I think they will probably stick with Dhoni as captain for a while.
Shunya Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Gambhir Sehwag Kohli(captain) Pujara Rohit Rahane Dhoni - wk Zaheer Umesh Ashwin Ohja/aaron/rahul sharma
daryl1985 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Gambhir Sehwag Pujara SRT Kohli Rohit MSD (captain) Ashwin Zak Yadav Ojha Tendulkar is definitely good enough to play on.
The Realist Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 The present team needs to be killed. Its much less painful than watching them try to perform. Need new energy, new ideas and fresh motivation. This means a new captain, new coach, new selectors and at least 4 new players. Heads have to roll.
Sooda Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Gambhir Sehwag Pujara SRT Kohli Rohit MSD (captain) Ashwin Zak Yadav Ojha Tendulkar is definitely good enough to play on. Sehwag should stay on as opener you think?

daryl1985 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Sehwag should stay on as opener you think? Good point. I would think about bringing in Mukund or Rahane for Kohli and dropping Sehwag down the order.

BeautifulGame Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I dont whats this fixation with Karthick. He has been struggling for runs in domestic cricket for nearly 2 years.I dont see how he can even be choosen ahead of Saha let alone Dhoni. Dhoni deserves to be sacked as cpatain but his batting has been good for a WK before this series. And this series he had Ashwin and Ishant in melboure and Zaheer here for company when he got out.Its not like he failed to stick around with top order batmsen. Also maybe reliving him of captaincy may make him a better batsmen in test cricket.Either way he deserves few series as wk without captaincy pressure IMO. Also Sehwag is too good a player to be kept out of the side and like Dhoni he still has 5 years of cricket in him.His problem is lack of technique against moving ball.If he dropped down and saved from new ball he will still be a major force in middle order even away from sub continent in my view.

I think Dhoni has struggled with the bat specially on overseas tours. His last notable overseas Test innings was the 91 in the first test against South Africa in a losing cause. Saha versus Karthik is touch and go. It would depend on current form and fitness.
