Why separate yardstick for Tendulkar

We need at least one experienced man in the middle order. A team full of youngsters will be as bad as a team full of oldies IMO. Sachin can at least field and run b/w the wickets .. other 2 are **** fielders and runners. He appears to be in a better touch. I just have a feeling he still have a lot to offer its just a matter of one big innings. Should not be in the ODIs team though.

This thread is full of manipulative bullshit. Why select only the last 10 tests you moron? Look at the last 3 years, maybe then Dravid's record will wane compared to Tendulkar's. I love Dravid and everything, I think he's one of the greatest of recent times, but you can't compare him to the Little Master, it's unfair on Dravid, because there is no comparison.

Dravid is on the same level as Tendulker in ters of test bastmen. I'd have Dravid slightly better tests. Tendulker was the better one day batsman out of the two. And I agree with the other chap that Ponting and Lara will be held in the same regard by neutrals as Tendulker. And Tendulker should be dropped after this OZ tour ends. There's no point in him playing in home series for 18 months. Let your youngsters get a chance.

Yes, some people keep saying he was "looking good" and "timing the ball nicely" but the fact of the matter is it doesnt matter at the end of the day when you look at the scoreboard. You dont get any points for playing some good shots if you get out after a start. IMO Sachin has been as much a failure as other batsmen, more so because he failed in England too. It was a collective batting failure and nobody should be given preferential treatment.

Disagree. Ponting scored the 100 when Aus were 37/3. His 100 was much better than Hussey's. Also Ponting scored crucial half centuries at Melbourne when Indian bowlers were threatening to put India in control. This series after Clarke, Ponting has been the next best batsman.

Drop Sachin after Australia tour Yes, drop him. He's been going after this personal milestone (which isn't really a milestone whatsoever... I mean WTF is 100 international hundreds... there never was a milestone like that) And don't tell me this is a media hyped milestone and Sachin doesn't care. He does care. He refused a single while batting in the 4th innings against Sri Lanka. It clearly showed that he was going after the milestone. Even though India wasn't guaranteed to win at the time when he refused, he still did it so that he gets to his milestone. Clearly, in his long career, despite all the great achievements that have helped India win, we have seen many times in the past that Sachin often values personal milestones above the team cause.

I don't see a point in him playing a home test series. It would be better in the interests of the Indian team if we give a younger batsman a chance in India rather than thrust them into the team away. Why let him play just so that he gets to his 100th 100? I don't know what obsession Indian players tend to have towards personal milestones. Kapil Dev was a phenomenal player too, but in the end, just kept dragging himself match after match just so that he could overtake Hadlee.

In fact Laxman needs to go now along with Dravid and SRT can be there to help out the youngsters over the next year or so but he will also need to be phased out sometime next year at the latest and ideally after the Eng home series later this year.

What did you think, Tendulkar is going to be playing for another 10 years? He's going pretty soon as well. But to make a thread about why there is a separate yardstick for both is just being blind and/or ignorant.
