Alchemist Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 How many of ICFers use linkedin. On regular or irregular basis ? Has anyone benifited from the use. I get a lot of recruiter enquries through linkedin. I think it is a good tool.
punjabi_khota Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 :itsme: Its helped few of friends get interviews. Mostly use it as an additional stalking tool. :sherlock:
Sachinism Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I've got a few invites, but never bothered checking it out. Seemed like ANOTHER social network Will have a look some time
ganeshran Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Its quite useful. Especially to keep in touch with old colleagues you dont want to add on Facebook
Ram Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Linkedin is the place to go if you want to read some of the most barefaced lies. The profile will seem to indicate the guy single-handedly engineered the moon-landing, but you know that the only reason he come to work is so that he can use the designated smoking area and steal Splenda packets from the pantry.

One thing I liked about linkedin is you can easily reach out to people in your industry. I usualy look at the recomendations that person gets and make sure that those are not from buddy sytem (You reco me, I reco you).
ganeshran Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Many recommendations are fake. The most common one is ______ is a detail oriented _______ who watches the balance sheet like a hawk without losing sight of the _______ strategic objective. I have seen this one on atleast 50 linkedin profiles.
Lurker Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I always use it to sign off my au-revoir email that I send out when leaving a company. Somehow seems professional :winky:

The Outsider Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 LinkedIn is awesome. The only social networking site I am on besides ICF. Really good to land up interviews and build up a rapport with people in your field, who you otherwise would never have met.
