Tendulkar needs to retire first, he is hanging on despite doing nothing lately ,he failed in England despite having nice holiday and then again was no show in Australia.

He ended his career with an average of 52 I think he was consistent enough in his career
Yes, He is my most favorite cricketer since very young age, but fact is that he was below par since England 2007 averaging just around 40.

As for Laxman retiring to make way for the younger players Who's ready to replace him? Rohit is still throwing his wicket away when he should be bidding his time he's trying to hit his way out of trouble. He maybe one of the most talented player out there but he still needs to learn the temperament needed for Test cricket

40 is not good for a #3, especially when we played most tests at home.

He will learn eventually once he starts playing tests regularly and it is normal for batsmen of new generation. They are tempted to p[lay quickly after so much LOIs, most of them lack the patience and test match cricket needs patience for both bowlers and batsmen.

Rohit should be brought into the Test setup but throwing him in the deep end knowing when he's not completely ready can be counter productive

I think he is ready. If he will stay outside for longer, he will never be ready. You are as good as the level you play at. Same thing is with him.

He has been around enough to earn his Test cap....If he is still not ready than sorry to say despite all the talent he should quit test cricket all together.

Return of Laxman? I dont see why Laxman cannot return as he has not been out that long and will be good for morale as we are in crisis, I know people will say its going backwards but as a v short term measure for the Australia series it will add some stability back into the middle order, immediate results and help the youngsters. He was also out of form in Eng/Aus but batting in India is a different matter and i feel he would still rule. Dravid I get the impression is well settled with life outside cricket but Laxman obviously was pushed into retirement given how it was announced.

LOL. We need to move forward, not backward. As much as I like Laxman going back to him would signify the depths to which Indian cricket has fallen. Give Tiwary and Rahane a chance.

The likes of Tiwary/Rahane still can get chances, its about picking your best team.

What nonsense. Others have done it..that does not mean we need to do it or it's good for us. Doesn't matter if we lose more series, but this team needs to be built around younger players. The likes of laxman have served us well. It's time to look forward. Oh and we do have a Laxman in the making.... Ashwin. :hehe:
