You must be trolling here for sure. What would have been, could have been DOES NOT matter at all. What happened only matters!!! In any case, I do not agree with the overrated projected for Hussey that he will have made 15 k runs.
cant u tell that just by looking at his name? :giggle:

Hussey is still the 2nd greatest. That's why he's called Mr. Cricket. Ponting is someone who got lucky. He's good though, therefore No.3.

U Joking Right? In same category as ganguly :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:' date='He was one of the most consistent batsman for india in 2007-2011 ,Yes he has a bad year but people have such terrible memories,He won us matches in eng,sa,aus and on turning tracks in india,sr he is a very very very good batsman add he is so good to watch.[/quote'] Maybe you have forgotten Ganguly's performances. Maybe you need to look at Ganguly's debut series in Engalnd where the ball was moving around, his captain's knock in Aus in 2003-04 and his double century against Pakis when we were 3 down cheaply. And I'm not even talking about Ganguly as a captain or as a odi player. There's no way in the world Ganguly is not in the same category as Laxman.

Laxman is indeed a True Great of the Game but just not a Legend like Tendulkar , Dravid or a Ponting. If we include both Test and Odi performances then am afraid that even Inzamam edges out Laxman with ease as the better overall Cricketer .

It's a given and an accepted fact that Laxman was not much of an ODI player.

Good ordinary player who lifted his game against the best team of the past 20 years (until the series just concluded). Overall, might be considered a bit of an underachiever, like his Aussie equivalent Mark Waugh (if you can call >8000 runs underachieving).

This is the problem with people who live on statsguru rather than watching games and try to pull out stats specifially to suit agendas. Laxman's stats are maligned by his first 4-5 years before 2001 when he averaged in his late 20s. his turnaround began after the 2001 series. He played brilliantly against the ATG team of the era even though his record with some other sides are not brilliant. He is not an ATG, but comes in the Tier 3 or 4 of top test batsmen in the modern era.

Averages close to 50 at no. 5 and 6. He was tried as opener and that didn't work at all. Best batsman against the best team of his era. Played the best innings of his generation. true legend.

whom do you consider second? and also you can't put Ganguly in same category as Laxman.
laxman was better than ganguly, but the records aint too different, gangs averages 42+, lax-46+ both have 17 centuries with gangs playing less games, but yeah lax was a class apart nd both gangs nd lax were the bone of a formidable lower middle order
