BCCI continuing on its crappy path of random selections. While other teams are using the services of experience test match bowlers or previously successful bowling coaches, BCCI continues randomly selecting people specially to the bowling coach position. Anyhow, it can't be worst than E Simmons who was absolutely rubbish.... Let's see what happens to our young bowlers now :yay:

Firstly his nationality is a big no no secondly the best sports team in the world should be investing in the best people. You would not see Chelsea/Man Utd hiring an unknown coach from a league 2 football team.

Bowling coach Simons out, Queenslander Dawes appointed Devendra Pandey : Mumbai, Tue Feb 14 2012, Bowling coach Eric Simons has become the first casualty of India’s recent string of away losses in Tests. South African Simons, who was appointed coach in January 2010, has been replaced by former Queensland pacer Joe Dawes. The 41-year-old Dawes took 284 wickets in 76 first class games before being struck down by a serious knee injury in 2005. The decision to hire Dawes was taken at the BCCI working committee meeting in Chennai on Monday. Confirming Dawes appointment, BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur said that the Australian would take over after the Australia tour. “Simons has been replaced by Joe Dawes. The decision was taken at today’s working committee meeting in Chennai,” Thakur told The Indian Express on Monday. Prior to his India assignment, Dawes was the bowling coach of the South Australia Redbacks since June. He had pipped former Australian Test bowler Jason Gillespie for the job. He was also the coach of the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. Dawes coached Queensland before his stint with the Redbacks. In addition to cricket Dawes also enjoyed stints as a plain clothes policeman, political spin doctor — he worked as an advisor for Federal MP Peter Dutton. He was also a small-time businessman. He owns a newsagency at Bald Hills and is also in partnership with fellow paceman Ashley Noffke in Fast Bowlers United, a specialist cricket spikes and apparel company. Dawes as Queensland coach had 20 PlayStation portables for their team, which were used by players to review their own performances. Dawes said that the devices would help the players build their own game plans.

We coulda/shoulda got Pont in regardless of cost as he is the stand out fast bowling coach in world cricket right now. No idea about this Dawes guy and his track record is poor or at best hasn't worked with anyone of any note or done anything. BCCI they just seem to be clueless continually. I can only think that due to amount of Australian coaches in the IPL they seem to think they must be good. Instead of appointing the best, we hire another fool looking to improve the cricket resume.

Dawes has impressed as South Australia's bowling guru, working with the Redbacks young fleet of bowlers including Peter George, Joe Mennie and Gary Putland. The 41-year-old former policeman was also instrumental in Queensland's production line of fast bowlers and the evolution of Ryan Harris as a Test spearhead. Dawes, who only joined the SA program last winter, replaces sacked India bowling coach Eric Simons who had been with the side for two years. TA Shekher is overrated including that MRF Pace Academy.

Harris switched to SA later. Actually Harris was first made his debut for SA but he was more of an alrounder then, a medium pacer, and keeper Manou used to keep up to the stumps of him quite often but then he switched to Queensland and he improved his bowling at that time where Joe Dawes was the coach. He turned into a genuine quick bowler at Queensland.
