Help for Rehan Khan

Hey Ppl... I am back again ! Ok, after having conversation with RKT and Vijay from ICF, I finally started taking things on my own for Rehan Khan ( The fast bowler from Bihar ) . Vijay Sharma has offered his help for Rehan , as much as he can. Now, I spoke to a sports management guy who was very very kind enough to offer good advices. He said that what he can do from his side is take Rehan to Venkatesh Prasad and Roger Binny when Rehan comes to Bangalore. Now, I only want to ask people here if anyone else is willing to help him from their end for whatever needs required to bring him here . I will keep him at my place, but any kind of help offered would be much appreciated ! Amit

Well for the people who are not totally aware... A few months back RAF had been to Bihar and happened to come across a fast bowler. RAF took the time to go see the guy practise and play in a game. RAF filmed him and had posted a small video on ICF about Rehan Khan (the fast bowler). Rehan appears to be fast. Given that Rehan is from Bihar and Bihar aint really in good terms with BCCI, and more importantly the seemingly high talent that Rehan has, RAF felt he needs to be helped. He mentioned about it here and a few of the folks from ICF felt it would be a good idea to help the guy. Some of us offered to help. On Sunday, RAF and I spoke on the phone and RAF told me that he had spoken to Tenvic about Rehan Khan. RAF has a whole CD of footage personally captured by him of Rehan. Tenvic did not seem to be very forthcoming (or possibly we need to approach them differently). I suggested to RAF that he can log on to Royal Challengers website because RCB takes its fans seriously and interact with them at a totally different level than any other IPL team does. In fact some of RCB's selections have been influenced from RCB's fan inputs. Anyway, long story short, RAF will be going to Bihar in the next couple of weeks (pls confirm, RAF). RAF and I decided to buy a pair of shoes for Rehan (after RAF finds out from him which brand he prefers and his size and all. (RAF, the shoes are on me). Now RAF needs to figure out how else we can help him. And of course the folks here interested in helping out can please come forward. RAF, please let us know if you are planning on getting Rehan down to Bangalore? If that is your plan then maybe we should first plan some time of Venky and Binny to see the bloke and accordingly schedule Rehan's visit here. If Venky and Binny feel the guy has a future then we can think of how to make it happen further.

If you manage to get and make him stay in Bangalore, then I would like to meet at least and then take it further from there, what and how I can contribute. Btw, how are you guys so sure of his talent? Do you see Ranji level prospects on regular basis? Also, if you want to look beyond Cricket - and if you spot some really talented chaps in any other sport ( esp Olympic ones) - then add this to your bookmarks.. http://olympicgoldquest.in/ Headed by likes of Geet Sethi, Prakash Padukone.

RAF believes he is good and hence we are just trying to find an opportunity for him. After that it is his own making.

OK. but what gives him so much confidence, does RAF get to see State level prospects on regular basis? If you do not meet/see state level players on regular basis, you might get impressed by some random club player. I am not saying not to help the talent, but one has to be objective and with experienced eyes for evaluating talents.

Its time someone had to say this and i am saying it now "I am sick and tired of this and that upcoming phaast bowler" "he is super phaast" "he has talent" blah blah. Why don't you guys ask the mods to make a subforum "Phaast Chat" and open these threads there. Everyday there are dozens of phaast bowler threads. Is this a padosi site? Oh another Mohammed Irfan in the making. :wall: Those who agree with me give a thumbs up.

I am not against the help. But they have started a trend like padosis. Hyping up bowlers and then getting a laat on their g**** when they fail. We don't want that.

true, am also against people calling some of our bowlers trundlers just because they bowl below 140K, i'd rather have bowlers who take wickets and contain runs than bowlers who bowl above 140K but get smashed around the park

I agree that we hype our fast bowlers way too much but this thread is not for that purpose. This thread is to find volunteers who can help an upcoming sportsperson who needs help. Even if he doesn't become an intl bowler it's a great thing to do and hats off to the folks who are helping this kid. I wish there were more folks like them around :hatsoff:

Isn't talk about fast bowlers is a cricket talk? If you are not interested, do not come in the thread. We can have a thread about SRT and his useless 100th 100 every day that is fine for you but if we talk about upcoming fast bowlers that is over hyping according to you. How we over hype these guys? Are we media people? or relate to BCCI? We just found them and talk about. This is not hype. This discussion and awareness of our new talents. It is not just padosis. England, Aussie, and SA fast bowlers are more hyped than ours before they make even their FC debuts.
