^^You need to wait a bit longer for that. Ever since the flooding occurred in parts of Malaysia 4-5 months ago, the price of external hd has almost doubled. Right now they're pretty expensive than they used to be. Although if you're in dire need of it, you can get it at a moderate price.

^ Dont buy HDDs now. Way too expensive because the entire global supply chain got screwed up after the Thailand floods. Prices will hopefully come down after May. All prices are currently 40% up than what they were a year ago. I am also planning to get a couple of 2TB HDDs and a NAS box. Waiting for prices to come down. As for brands, Seagate and Western Digital work well normally and are covered under sufficient warranty if some problem occurs.

Yea, I thought so, its kinda strange coz, I bought a 320 GB Hard Disk a couple of years back, it costed me like 3.5k, I would have thought, I could atleast pick up a 1TB for may be 4.5k or so. Thanks baize, but if there is any jugaad then let me know, coz I think I may not able to wait till May.

Lowest price for 1 TB Seagate HDD was Rs 5800 here in Kolkata. I don't think any ol store sells that at lower price.
