Ultimate_Game Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I have had enough of Jaddu and I would rather watch Yusuf or Uthappa score a quickfire 20 odd than see Jaddu struggling to get the ball off the square. At least with Pathan or Uthappa you have a faint hope they might fire and get a win but with Jaddu in the team as soon as the 4th wkt falls you know it's over.
sumvell Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 ^^ agree 101%. just chuck jaddu out. useless . can't do anything with the bat. embarrassing.
ganeshran Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Uthappa  Just because jaddu is poor doesnt mean we go to another tried and test failure. What has Uthappa done to warrant selection apart from not being part of a losing team? Jadeja is decent enough in the subcontinent and if selectors want the same guy both overseas and at home, Irfan Pathan is a better option.
rkt.india Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 When these guys are in the team people say why they are in the team and now they are not and we are losing, people are saying why they are not in the team.
master22 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Uthappa  Just because jaddu is poor doesnt mean we go to another tried and test failure. Jadeja is decent enough in the subcontinent and if selectors want the same guy both overseas and at home, Irfan Pathan is a better option. Uthappa seems to be in good form..back to back centuries in the last two matches, rohit has been given twice the amount of chances and has been an even bigger failure,so why not give him a chance to see whether he has improved or not.
Stuge Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 So here we are talking about replacing an all rounder with a batsmen (wicket-keeper batsmen).
Pagalpanti Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I think Irfan is doing well, if Jaddu can get so many chance based on few performances then so should Irfan. He also solves our problem of playing 2 spinners and 3 pacers. Yusuf is a pathetic bowler, bowls way too short. His batting is more retarded than Afridi's. I'd prefer Rahane over Uthapa for opening.
Pagalpanti Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 When these guys are in the team people say why they are in the team and now they are not and we are losing' date=' people are saying why they are not in the team.[/quote'] lol so true. Yusuf and Uthappa are proven failures. They feast on poor domestic bowling.

ZodiaC Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I have said this over and over again - ANYONE over Jaddu is an upgrade. ANYONE. Pathan used to bowl as worse, and could have added the X factor to the team IMO - so fair choice as a lower order batting allrounder. Not so sure about flathappa though, would pick Rahane as opener (in for Sehwag obviously)
Ultimate_Game Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Uthappa  Just because jaddu is poor doesnt mean we go to another tried and test failure. What has Uthappa done to warrant selection apart from not being part of a losing team? Jadeja is decent enough in the subcontinent and if selectors want the same guy both overseas and at home, Irfan Pathan is a better option. You are not giving Uthappa his due... Uthappa played in Eng odis in 2007-08 and won us a game while batting lower down when we needed 14-16 runs in the last over. Then he played in CB Series in Aus and performed creditably as an opener this time. Point is Uthappa was generally played away and never got a run on flat pattas, was played all over the place (opener, lower order etc.) and did not do as bad as he's made out to be. Uthappa definitely deserves a longer run with a defined role in the team (as an opener or lower order; I would prefer him as a lower order batsman) and also deserves a run in sub-continent and not simply in tougher conditions.
CG Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Uthappa  Just because jaddu is poor doesnt mean we go to another tried and test failure. What has Uthappa done to warrant selection apart from not being part of a losing team? Jadeja is decent enough in the subcontinent and if selectors want the same guy both overseas and at home, Irfan Pathan is a better option. :hysterical::hysterical: Tried and tested failure lol,Guy has won us odis matches from no hope situations that too abroad and he batted well in his last series in australia in 2008 when shewag was struggling and got dropped after asia cup where he hardly got chance to bat as raina and co feasted on hongkong and bangladesh ,got opp in the final agianst mendis and scored 20 when most could not make 10 and dropped.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 So here we are talking about replacing an all rounder with a batsmen (wicket-keeper batsmen). I would take Uthappa or Yusuf as a lower order batsman over jaddu as "allounder". Sehwag, raina, Yusuf etc. can give us 10 overs of spin which Jaddu gives us and Yusuf is way ahead as a lower order bat.
skindia Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 uthappa performed much better than raina and rohit sharma in minimum chance he got...and he is consistent as opener in 50 over format in domestics...those who are saying uthappa is failure just check his record as opener....under dravid captaincy he had fixed role as opener...average of 34 in 13 matches with 4 fifties with strike rate of 103...and under dhoni captaincy when he moved down the order his performance got affected by floating at all positions..if sachin want opening position why not other players like uthappa who got success as opener except 3-4 failure can be tried again??
skindia Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 dont talk about technique..if dhoni and mike hussey with no technique can get success in odi...why not uthappa....he is hardworking cricketer like them..
skindia Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 :hysterical::hysterical: Tried and tested failure lol' date='Guy has won us odis matches from no hope situations that too abroad and he batted well in his last series in australia in 2008 when shewag was struggling and got dropped after asia cup where he hardly got chance to bat as raina and co feasted on hongkong and bangladesh ,got opp in the final agianst mendis and scored 20 when most could not make 10 and dropped.[/quote'] And after being dropped he was performing in domestics in 4 day matches, challenger trophy, vijay hazare trophy in that 2008-09 season but unfortunately new selection panel come and he didnt get chance for last three years except 1 t20..I remember in 2008/2009 They used kohli, rohit, kartik as opener when Robin was performing..may be some senior players had asked selectors to do so:winky:
The Dark Horse Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Drop jaddu, play rahul sharma, promote ashwin to no.5 and let raina do the slogging.
GautiMaan Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Watching the pakistanis collapse against SA reminded me of Yuppo's knocks the last time we were there.Seems to have struck some form in the domestic matches, hope he gets back atleast in t20s
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Yusuf was a good spinner as well, as good as Jadega and surely he will be as effective with bat. Theres more chance of Agarkar being picked to open the innings however!
I6MTW Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Yusuf Pathan should open with the bat in odi's. When he scored 100 off 37 we will reach 500.
