Sachin has not performed under pressure: Kapil

Dude, Maris, it is a fact that Lara's 153 is peerless...Sachin came close with his 137 vs the Pakistanis but unlike lara, Sachin choked when the pressure was the highest.

Sachin singlehandedly takes team to brink of victory , team needs 12 runs with 4 wickets , he gets out and the rest of the fckers get out like nine-pins. This isnt choking, This is bad luck. And Mr.Lara was dropped by healy , a catch that was going straigh to first slip. Oh , how moments cant shape the legacy of legends !

I am tired mm, like you defending the great man. Against non minnows windies have not won a test match overseas for 7 odd years. However, no one doubts lara the match winner despite him being in a team that did not win overseas for so long. Nothing you can do if your team mates let you down

Sriram, I'll ask you this question. Is Tendulkar perfect in every aspect? Do you reckon he has drawbacks at all? Let me see if you can list any drawbacks at all considering you overwhelmingly defend him every time anything is said about him.

Ravi , I never said Sachin is perfect. Nobody is beyond criticism. He has his own share of failings , like everybody. But what pains me the most is that , people allow these failings to shroud their mind and question his greatness, his legacy. They failed to realize that , without him , Indian cricket would be a lot poorer , would have lot less followers. I can say this with assurance because , I am hooked to cricket. And the first thing i knew about Indian cricket was Sachin. He has got the game more followers than most of the cricketers combined. And i think i will stop here , lest people might think i am being paid to support Sachin.

People who see sachin as their hero are not islamists who view their religion as pefect. He is human and fallible like others including Warne, Lara, Ponting, Viv and Bradman! Just do peoplke have to continually snipe at Sachin. Every day there is a new thread hammering him! He gets it more then any othey player. You have clearly shown you are not a fan of sachin ravi, as shown by numerous threads you have started hammering this indian hero!

:D Fair enough but there is no point in defending Tendulkar every time someone says something about him. I don't reckon anyone dislikes him. It is a fact he has failed in crucial games more often than he has performed. That could be a coincidence or unable to handle way too much expectations and pressure. Saying that in open won't lessen his credibility, he is still a legend and nothing can change that. Some like S Waugh, Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Miandad, Kapil Dev, McGrath, Akram, Warnie et al are talked about as guys that performed a lot of times when chips were down and I think there is truth to it. S Waugh, R Dravid or Miandad may not be as talented or classy as Tendulkar but they had/have their advantages. Similarly R Dravid cannot up the tempo like Tendulkar used to. Steve Waugh wasn't naturally gifted and looked ugly. Kapil Dev could play a terrible shot and get out badly. As I said everyone has limitations. We have to learn to live with it. The likes of Kapil Dev, Shastri and the rest have seen and admired Tendulkar. I don't reckon they want him to fail but they are merely pointing out the fact. In fact Gavaskar even had said Tendulkar was no where near S Waugh or Lara in the late 90s. Ravi Shastri reckons among Tendulkar and Lara, Lara is better. We can't quite say they are meandering Tendulkar's ability or his proven credentials by pointing out his weakness.

Dude' date=' Maris, it is a fact that Lara's 153 is peerless...Sachin came close with his 137 vs the Pakistanis but unlike lara, Sachin choked when the pressure was the highest.[/quote'] Oh please, there were atleast 2 chances lara got in that innings, in the little bit i remember. Both came near the end. If warne (or was it waugh) held on to those chances, WI would have lost. That doesnt take one bit away from the innings. Cricket is a team sport. When Sachin scored those 137 , that was nearly 50% of the runs we needed in the 2nd innings. Even when he got out, we needed a paltry 15 or 20 more with 3-4 wickets in hand. If you think that a difference between a great innings and a good one is how much a number 10 batsman can get, then i suppose you will also be hailing Inzi was the greatest match winner of all time(by simply calculating his avg in matches won),if he was an Indian. Why is Sachins 98 against Pak considered a great? When he got out we still needed 100 more and if we lost that game from that position, does that take anything away from that innings? What about laxmans 281? Had we lost, would it suddenly cease to be a great innings?

People have the right to criticize. Dont ridicule , is only request..

This is so stupid. Now let's see, I keep seeing Laxman's 281 as a match winning innings ..... Now tell me how many of you think that, a victory was possible at Edens had Rahul Dravid not played out the entire day with Laxman??? Zilch, we would have lost that match and series. Winning test matches is more about partnerships than a single big innings by a player. Tendulkar was extremely unlucky, since most of his great test innings before 98-99 (that's when Dravid and ganguly matured and become world class payers) were wasted coz our team SUCKED. Numerous innings in Australia, England, WI and South Africa (might I add hardest places to tour) were wasted due to lack of support. There are loads of games when tendulkar has scored more than 50+ runs with the 9, 10, and 11th wickets. No support from the top order in away tours. THAT is the FACT!! Now Sehwag's 300, is considered a match winning innings, what about tendulkar's 196 or whatever. Isn't that equally important? It's possible that our batting would have collapsed after his wicket causing us the game. Only stupid people will question his ability to perform under pressure. HE HAS DONE IT LOADS OF TIMES. TOO bad the Indian team sucked and he never got support during his prime years ....

Brilliant post and this particular bit sums it up!

Also I would like to add, I think Tendulkar's main role in the team is now to support Rahul Dravid, since only these two along with karthik have the cricketing brains to realize that singles are important and VITAL for a test match. Also Tendulkar is the best partner a young player can get. One of the major reasons Sehwag was successful was simply because SRT was at the other end telling him all the right things. Kapil Dev only remembers his knock against Zim in the world cup, fool. One innings doesn't make you the best match winner for your country. SHUT UP GAVASKAR IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF YOU... GO PLAY GOLF. Now we'll find out how many ppl on this board like Kapil Dev. My dad likes him, I dont. so its 1- 1 for now.

He needs to take more risks, and he will be rewarded - like ponting. And tendulkar has to got to start playing with the bowlers heads again, since that's where most cricketing battles are won. He is doing it now, but not continuously. So there you go, and I think Sriram might agree.

I thought gambo was the worshipper...... I sometimes hold back on some serious sachin bashing because I don't want to offend good guys like gambo and anakin.....:P

Anakin has been missing from action for a long time now. Wonder if he still visits us? As for me I'm targeted by both the groups. I opened several good articles about Sachin prior the first test as a lot was riding on Tendulkar and Donny gave me hard time saying all we have here is Sachin related threads. If I speak my mind about any drawbacks of Sachin Tendulkar people accuse me of hating him. Either way I rub people the wrong way and it just doesn't worry me :haha: I don't care about anyone's opinion about me though, I say as I see it. I may have different opinions from say Sriram, Gambit or Donny but I really enjoy their posts too. They don't usually come with an agenda, they just speak their mind just like the rest so it's all good.
