If the IPL auction were to be held now, he wouldn't be valued so much. Those valuation were on the back of the very good first 3 series he had since Eng tour post his comeback. 13 matches, 24 wickets, 200+ runs..no wonder he was in demand at the auction. His stock has taken a dip ever since though. BTW I am sure you could criticize minus all those abuses.

He is an useful all rounder in sub continent conditions and IPL is played in India where he would be more than good enough to roll his arm over and score quick runs at the end. He is also an excellent fielder.
