The criticism is fairly understandable. There is no reason to go all hateful on RSS, and this comes from me go figure lol. Indian society has undergone a huge change in last 20 years, something Sociologist should start researching on. 20 years back arranged marriage was the overwhelming method by which marriages happened, about 10 years back this was drastically changed towards love marriage specially in middle to upper class. Today marriage as an institution is also not looked in the same vein as even 10, definitely 20 years back. Point being much as it is difficult for the young crowd to listen to elderly generation (and RSS is just that), it is equally difficult for the elderly generation to see how much society has changed.

Hmm. Okay. Lets replace that part with the Odisha violence. Is that RSS instigated?

Some of these are valid questions. Time period isn't necessarily as important as you make it out to be. Of more vital significance is what exactly constitutes a live in. There is a lot of ambiguity over that and the phrase isn't clearly outlined. For eg, can a wealthy man who financially maintains and has a relationship with her be counted as a live in? What about servants who staying at a residence? Having said that, there are some developments which are quite encouraging. Children born from a live in are entitled to a share of property of both their parents. The domestic violence bill discriminate between a married woman or a live in one either.
That part of the law is good if that is applicable. I personally think that the child born out of wedlock should have a share of both his parents' properties as he is not to be blamed in such a scenario. Same should be applicable for divorce cases. But the female partner getting a wife's status and rights sounds absurd as that would be only applicable to gold diggers. And to be honest, a live in girl would be open minded and so, gold digging character would be impossible. At least this holds true in case of the celebrity live-ins and other high profile live-ins.
Mariyam' date=' under Indian law, are both parents of a bastard child liable for child support? So if the child lives with the mother, is it compulsory for the father to contribute to the cost of the child's upbringing?[/quote'] Agree. If both the parents are not liable then there is some problem with the law. It is needed as the child must have equal rights being a product of both parents.

And here I was thinking that India is a democratic nation, seems like every day these people are trying to bully people etc into giving up their rights. Hate to say this but I hope India doesn't go the way of certain countries.

Majority will bully everyone else.

Here the people follow parampara and sanskriti and set example for the third generation . They do the non paramparik stuff like porn watching at work.....like the RSS chelas of BJP.....:hysterical::hysterical:

lol @ people getting excited about these new rulings... I am seeing a divorce case in India very closely and trust me, women HAVE NO POWER in Indian court. They cant get property as its not on husband’s name in Indian families, guy can just disown kids and never pay any child support and claim he is poor when his family has hospitals and he is a millionaire. Poor woman has to prove everything.. there is no justice and its all ****ed up so bad that one cant even imagine. The husband can decide not to show up in the court and when he does then his lawyers can claim that everything he owns is actually his mummy’s .. records can be changed overnight, judges can be bribed .. its all BS. I hate to say this but I would never want to live in a country where people cant even trust the courts

True....and it is even sadder that women rarely get any part of the father's property.(Although they legally can) Specially in families with children of both sexes....it is always the son who is considered the real heir to property. If the daughter asks for it... it is almost like she is being a rebel or breaking tradition. Often the reasoning is that the family gives dowry to the girl but in most cases it does not belong to the girl. The expenses in a girl's marriage is also considered to be the equalizer but a guy's wedding costs the same. Most of these problems are also because of joint families and joint property.A woman who marries into a joint family is lost as a person for most of her life.It is only when she become the "saas " does she have some place in the family.

Women themselves play a crucial role when it comes to property settlements. For one, they do not themselves believe that they deserve a part in the property event though the law is clearly on their side and two, the mothers and mothers in laws usually favor the male children themselves no matter how much they themselves suffered because of the bias. It's a tradition that women love to carry forward. If women really want, they can get rid of it.
