G_B_ Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Look' date=' firstly there is never a perfect formula in anything in sports. Just because many teams play in a particular style, doesn't mean that every team should play like that. Playing spinners is just a common idea but can never be a must. Every team has its own strengths and they should bank on that. So for RR it is the so called one dimensional attack which this season has made them win so many matches. So I cannot see any issue in them playing the side yesterday. Thus, the side was not a problem, it's the basic fielding errors which cost them. How hard is it for you to understand?[/quote'] well nothing is a must really. You can play 11 tailenders or 11 batsman as well. The bottomline is if the spinner has failed you would always have Binny as the 6th bowler who would sweep up. As he has always been doing for a while in the RR line up through the tournament. RR actually won a lot of matches because of the performances of Chandila in particular in the first 6 overs. They have lost 2 and won 1 match after the spot fixing issue. In one of those matches they played a spinner in Tambe. It was a mistake to play Cooper in place of Badree. Badree is somebody who has won the T20 WC and specializes in bowling in the first 6 or they should have accommodated Harmeet. No doubt fielding was an issue. But IMO a spinner would have made the game much tighter at the very least. As things stand Watson did not finish his quota anyways.

One more time, please do not use hindsight. Cooper has done his job well and deserved to be in the team. A player who did something many months back has little significance today. Having a spinner would not have guaranteed anything unlike your wrong assumption said that the game would be much tighter. RR needed to play their best team yesterday which they did and got beaten by a better team including some of their fielding mistakes.

I have been saying that way before the game started. Its not as if RR lost and I started saying it. Even Sanjay Manjrekar on twitter kept banging on about having atleast one spinner at eden gardens. Check his twitter stream. and i never said anything is guaranteed. Just thought it was a tactical error. I never said that RR would win if a spinner was included. What next? RR drop Shane Watson , lose and then you tell me that i should not say anything in hindsight? Certain things imo are tactical errors.

Just because someone said that doesn't mean that's the way to go. RR won many matches with their own unique formula and thus they had their reasons to continue with their own methods. Thus, the idea of this being a tactical error is utter rubbish given the choices available.

That in my book is a tactical error.

G_B_ Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 hmm so Dravid Rahane Watson Samson Hodge Menaria Binny Faulkner Cooper Tambe Shukla A bit light on batting but there is depth....plenty of bowling options. Maneria Tambe spin, Cooper Faulkner Watson Shukla Binny pace.... 7 bowling options. Plenty of vareity. Shukla should bowl fast at 90mph plus Binny is gentle medium pace. Tambe is leggie while Menaria is left arm ortherdox. Dont think any other attack in this tournament has so many options. Maneria and Binny will be the key players in addition to regular key player Watson. These two can bowl and bat well then RR will be a very good team. One thing i will say. RR have a thin squad. An injury to a frontline batsman like Hodge Dravid or Rahane and there is no replacement in the ranks.
Lord Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 is Lord supporting this team? :hmmm: yes:agree:
