It is a very poor performance...England are hands down better team...and we got outplayed... and no I dont think its humiliating... I will take a draw as a good effort if it happens...

He didn't say our odi 5-0 was "revenge" for test defeat like our chief selector said. The journalist could have asked something like is India in decline..Tendulkar could be pointing out a bright spot in that we are still a good ODI side for example. I don't think Tendulkar of all people would compare tests with odi. Look at Ojha's quote. Completely taken out of context for sure and it was a fair natural remark to make.

The super fast green tops was ridiculous excuse making their where similar pitches to the ones our batsman used to not have any problems scoring on. In fact the most difficult pitch we played on was the one in south africa that we actually managed to win. Even when we were number one our batting super stars had serious issues with batting collapses and no one wanted to talk about it. Only nasser hussein talked about it once about how fragile our batting looked at times.

Good post. Even at our best, we never dominated teams. We just had someone who would step up and deliver at crucial moments i.e Zak would get a breakthrough or Sachin, VVS or Sehwag would play a great innings. That does not happen any more as those players have gone past their peak. Now, we just crumble and show little fight. It would be acceptable if the players were trying their hardest and were simply not good enough but some players look like they don't give a ****.

Batsmen are to blame The current test situation for India is the batsmens fault. To put pressure on any side you need runs on the board. You won the last two tosses, but your batsmen let the advantage slip. Also your fielding leaks runs (mainly the batsmen) Sharma bowled his heart out today and Khan is doing his best in his twilight years. Your spinners are young with a lot to learn. The fault lies with your batting princes, their poor concentration and techniques imho

If that happens....but my bet is our batsman will make this wicket look unplayable. Offcourse day 4 & day 5 pitch will be tougher...so there is a ready made excuse also. Draw will be appreciated by a lot of people now.

It is primarily the batting. They have crumbled to abysmal 200-300 kind of scores in the first innings on tracks like Oval, Sydney, Adelaide, and now here at Calcutta. These are pitches with par scores of 450-500 in the first innings. What can the bowlers do when they have hardly anything to defend on placid tracks against good batsmen? To top it all we have the the idiotic captaincy of Kaptaan Kool and a few chances dropped every innings. On such wickets these kind of things just pile up and render the bowling attack becomes ineffective. Bowlers are not blameless, but they have done much better than the batting over the past year or so. The only way to stay in the game on flat pitches is to score big in the first innings, second innings comebacks are rare and more difficult, and certainly out of the reach of the current team.
