The story of the World T20 2012 Super 8s The team batting first has looked to score 160+ in the meanwhile losing wickets and struggling to reach 140. The team chasing mentally has a target in mind and finds it much more easier to pace the innings. All games have followed that pattern - which makes me think chasing is the best strategy on these pitches. You have a set target in mind and you know what to do. Moreover, the rain factor helps as well!

Oh and dare I say ... IPL has skewed all expectations of a good total. Everyone expects 170/180 as a score. This is simply not possible on these pitches unless you have a good batting day. The boundaries are not short and the bowlers (apart from India) are not crap either.

Pitches are not really spinning tracks but slow and not supporting strokeplay which leads to fall of wickets if batsmen try to play shots. I

Yes - they are not those rank turners but are slow and it is damn difficult to score 140. I think by default the sides batting first should look to score 140 as a PAR score and if possible 150/160. Currently, they are trying to score 160 and struggling to reach 140 :wall:

Glad you picked that up on Kohli. I dare say his ego got the better of him. My point is for the India bowling attack especially batting first is a very bad option.
