Old guy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I am only concerned about the washouts on Tuesday. In a tourney which has been severely affected by rain wouldn't it make much sense to make sure we leap-frog to the 2nd spot to ensure our entry into the semis in case of a washout? im sure they were aware abt it...just not important enough to throw wickets away and yes there has been rain but has any game been washed out ? atleast not 2 in one day so its no big deal
Old guy Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 -0.429 to -0.452 is as close as one can get. 3 overs got us from -2.5 to -0.452. So. a win against SA is a must. A loss ' date=' then Pak has to lose badly than India. Our match is after Pak. So, if Pak loses, we have a target to achieve even to lose by.[/quote'] so other then weather everything is under our contorl.. our destiny is in our hands :P
Ultimate_Game Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Anyways be happy that we at least won a few balls later' date=' if the fielders had taken Kohli's catch earlier, then Dhoni would have come in after a Sharma duck of course, and tuk tuk his way till the 19th over.[/quote'] I am not saying we should have finished the game in 14th or 15th over. I am saying that when the 16th over finished even the commies knew we had to score the remining 4 runs in the next 4 balls for us to have a better NRR. Surely the Indian think tank and Fletcher should have known it as well and ensured we got the 4 runs within 4 balls, which is not too much to ask. As for 2 balls not making a difference, what if Tuesday is a washout and we are kicked out of the tourney coz of those 2 balls?
Trichromatic Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Agreed on both counts which again leads to the conclusion the team weren't aware of the NRR calculations. No way in the world would Yuvi and Kohli have cantered to a win when a bit of urgency would have gotten us over Pak in the standings. I guess the coach has to take the blame for this oversight as you can't expect players to keep track of the NRR in the heat of a T20 match. But Fletcher should have ensured Indian batsmen knew about the target and I'm surprised none of the post-match analysis or interviewers brought up the point when rain is a very real possibility in the tourney and we have already witnessed a few rained out or shortened games in the tourney so far. It's very unlikely that both matches would be washed out.
vvvslaxman Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 You can clearly see all other teams do get useful tips and advice time to time especially the batsmen. Indian team is the only one in which that fat coach slumbers somewhere in the dugout without having any clue of the match situation.. In b4 someone. Says coach role is over-rated
Ultimate_Game Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 so other then weather everything is under our contorl.. our destiny is in our hands :P Our destiny is not in our hands if it rains on Tuesday but it could have been Pity, fatso Fletcher didn't know anything about NRRs which even the commies knew towards the end of the game. Paki commies were so relieved when India didn't finish off the match by 16.4 overs.

Ultimate_Game Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 It's very unlikely that both matches would be washed out. Actually if we get a typical monsoon shower the chances are both matches will be rained off. We have seen SL super-soppers in action and they are not a pretty sight. And we all know that monsoon rains are not a passing shower and when it rains it pours heavily.
Crookbond Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 UG - There has been no two game washout till now, will not happen. Do not worry man! :two_thumbs_up:

Ultimate_Game Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 UG - Head over to the match thread to know the weather. 10% chance of rain Bud my question to you is even if there's only 10% chance of rain why leave us at the mercy of that 10% when we could have simply finished of the job easily. I want to know what our coach was doing at the time coz if he can't even look at the NRRs what value-add does he bring to the table?
Trichromatic Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 C'mon Guys.. Give me some ICF$ for the match-winning thread I created! :icflove: Or better I recommend an ICF badge for Sidhoni.
Crookbond Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I opened up the England vs South Africa 3rd Test Match as well and England was pawned by South Africa to get the No1 Test rankings. :proud: http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=286550

And yes, it will be relevant in case Tuesday is a washout. My point is simple - why are we paying big money to our coaching staff when they couldn't do a simple job of ensuring the batsmen in the middle knew about the exact target at the end of 16th over.

But, lets be optimistic.
Ultimate_Game Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Really surprised not many people are upset about this glaring oversight and nobody questioned the team think-tank about the same.

Laaloo Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Really surprised not many people are upset about this glaring oversight and nobody questioned the team think-tank about the same. Because most of them are sure that Australia will thrash pakistan and we will either beat South Africa or not lose by such a big margin.
