Team did it's part and it was up to the coaching staff to be on top of things like NRR etc. and pass on the message to the players in the middle.

I saw the match as well but there wasn't an urgency to finish the match by 16.4 overs else Yuvi wouldn't have simply played for ones and Kohli wouldn't have taken it easy. Because most of them are sure that Australia will thrash pakistan and we will either beat South Africa or not lose by such a big margin. Hope so and am keeping my fingers crossed to ward of the rain... Kohli's track record of being so near and yet so far makes me nervous :nervous: Don't want another KLPD like CB series and Asia Cup

Just like the Saffer goof-up of not reading the D/L table correctly falls on Pollock and the team think tank, and not on Boucher who thought he had won the game for SA when he blocked the last ball instead of taking a single off it.

Couldn't make it yesterday but was sure there would be a few threads about the oversight and imagine my surprise when I didn't hear anything about it in post-match analysis and didn't see any thread here as well. Only time I heard it was when Paki commies (IIRC Wasim & Ramiz) were so visibly relieved when India didn't reach the target by 16.4 overs.

But this goof-up sure deserves a thread and someone should ask about what Fletcher's role is with the Indian team if he doesn't even have handle on such basic stuff.

Warner last 3 T20I's against Pakistan in UAE 2012 (20 days back) - 22(25b), 31(19b), 59(34b). Pretty much same Pakistan team in similar conditions. Don't count him out so easily - Pakistan are in a league of their own.
