How can BCCI make the IPL better

1. Scrap auctions, have draft picks based on team performance and let them pick available players in that order. Salaries to be fixed based on pick # in draft. This would keep salaries at sane level and reduce ticket prices hopefully. 2. Have a fixed salary cap, no crap like underhand tie breakers, etc. 3. Increase minimum salary even for domestics, currently there is too much difference between top and bottom players. 4. Split teams into two groups and reduce number of games, each team plays teams from other group fewer number of times. 5. Implement DRS. 6. Get rid of the cheerleaders. 7. Make semis and finals best of 3. 8. Stop the madness of adding and getting rid of teams randomly.

Remove The Champions league for a start... That tournament is a waste and takes up precious time. Plus it is so much skewed towards the IPL teams i.e 3 teams from IPL vs 1 from certain countries.

1. Can you explain more about the draft system? 2. The first part is definitely happening 3. Do not see the fuss, people are rewarded if they have played for India. 4. Last year tried that and failed. Instead have better scheduling 5. DRS should first be tried in those first class competitions. 6. Really? The current knockout style is the best. 7. That is politics + corruption. This would stay forever.

It is harder to categorize a player in ranks particular as their are more dimensions such as batting, bowling, fielding. And more importantly, we do not have that infrastructure such as colleges partnership, planning from schools to succeed in India at today.

[/quote'] No need to categorize. Teams will do that job and decide who they need to pick. League only assigns the order in which teams will pick. Don't need to draft from college. We have a steady stream of local undrafted players from Ranji and also internationals.

Hey, you are still asking to organize something very complex with our infrastructure. This is far too much for our country and would only lead to some kind of scams. (Insider Dealings) At least we should feel happy with auctions are done on live TV.

Draft can happen on live TV as well. The team slots will get assigned automatically based on performance, no chance of underhand dealings. And like the NBA they can just have a public lottery to decide top 2/3 picks amongst the lowest ranked teams so that they don't tank games purposely to get a shot at the #1 player. It is pretty simple actually and totally eliminates the irrational bidding process which ends up paying players random sums of money like 2M for the likes of Tiwary, YKP and RU.

^^ I think you misunderstood. The #1 player can easily be switched to a lower rank for the big money teams. So I would say it is too complicated and there will more arguments with draft. Just see how much we debate over who is better between 2 players, can you imagine how much larger it would be more a draft.

it is not the public perception that matters of who is the #1 draft choice.. It is the franchise which is placed at the bottom which has to decide the #1 pick from the available pool of players....

12 teams 2 groups of 6 each team plays 16 matches (play the teams in your group twice while play the team in the other group only once) 5 foreign players in playing 11 no.1 team from the groups automatically qualify for semi-finals while team no.2 and 3 play in preliminary semi-finals. play best of 3 finals and 3rd place play off there would be total of 110 matches the IPL should be 60 days event play IPL from mid-october till mid-december (there will always be inernational cricketers avalible due to money)
