1. Scrap auctions, have draft picks based on team performance and let them pick available players in that order. Salaries to be fixed based on pick # in draft. This would keep salaries at sane level and reduce ticket prices hopefully. 2. Have a fixed salary cap, no crap like underhand tie breakers, etc. 3. Increase minimum salary even for domestics, currently there is too much difference between top and bottom players. 4. Split teams into two groups and reduce number of games, each team plays teams from other group fewer number of times. 5. Implement DRS. 6. Get rid of the cheerleaders. 7. Make semis and finals best of 3. 8. Stop the madness of adding and getting rid of teams randomly.
Pretty much this. :two_thumbs_up: The auction bs is a pure embarrassment and disgrace to the sport. :headshake: Make two divisions, North and South, top 3 from each division makes it through, quarters, semis, finals. But introducing a draft system is the most crucial out of all them. You need a incentive for the *****y teams to hoping to do well in this league rather then just bank on commercial aspects of the league. Also introducing a salary scale could roughen the dodginess as well

Draft does not make much sense to me because it is a limited season , if it were an year round season with a training camps to develop talent then a draft would make sense... It seemed from the start of the IPL that one of the objectives of the league was to develop local talent but this makes little sense to me let me explain. There is no way that you can take a 19-20 year old player and put him in the IPL and expect him to succeed right away (I know there are some case where it happened) but for the vast majority of players this is unfair as even exceptional players put in this type of situation don't do well its a waste for the fans and the player Plus what I dont understand is if the IPL is the "Premier" cricket league of the world then there should be no limit on number of international players..... At least each team should be able to have 5-6 international players this will even the playing field and break the dominance of the league by 2 teams... Also here is my argument if you buy a brand new spanking Mercedes are you going to let your 16 year old son drive... There is a huge mismatch in teams that bear the burden of giving young domestic player time in the middle lets for example take players that came from DC: P Ojha Rahul Sharma both pure products of DC and got into Indian sides because of perfomances in the DC Even Rohit Sharma helped his case with good performaces in DC CSK A Makunkd S Badrinath M Vijay M Gony R Ashwin Where as teams like MI just sucked out the talent of some teams and never gave any domestic players much of a chance... MY SUGGESTION A formula should be in place to give a slight advantage to teams that play more uncapped domestic players here is an example: all teams get 3 international players on the squad plus one for every uncapped domestic player on the team.... While teams like Mumbai would stay with the current team, Teams like RR would be able to get the extra foreign player this would even things out as stronger teams like MI and CSK have 3-4 regular Indian International players, RR and DC don't have a single regular international This is one of my solutions please tell me what you think

^^^ I also support more foreign player in playing XI then now.....to even the playing field...but guess...BCCI is not interested in that solution...as they want CSK & MI to be top all the time.

Remove The Champions league for a start... That tournament is a waste and takes up precious time. Plus it is so much skewed towards the IPL teams i.e 3 teams from IPL vs 1 from certain countries.
How would removing the champions league make the IPL better?

^^^^^ i agree but I don't understand this as IPL is clearly the best T20 league in the world and it has all the potential to become the BPL of cricket with huge international following and large overseas revenues It wont happen overnight but 2 key areas where they can make a change to boost international viewership is by: 1) Increasing international players 2) Players should also have a little say in where they want to play... For example if I was a huge fan of Brad Hodge I would be confused of which team to follow as he has played for 3 teams

1. No more auctions (It is odd for peeps to connect with franchises and players if they keep changing after every 3 years) 2. Cut down the number of foreign players in the squad to 7 (Don't like to see someone like Narine, who is in red hot form, warming the KKR bench while his national team is involved in a Test match) 3. Better commentary team. 4. Ban interviews with movie stars. Stop focussing the cam on 'em during tense match situations. Their acting sux  5. Ban strategic timeout. 6. Cheerleaders can stay, but no Marathi/Bong attire :nono:

unauctioned players have say in where they want to play.. e.g Marlon samuels chose PWI and Levi chose MI. Also the main reason the IPL is seeing one sided matches is because some teams have no management what so ever.. namely DC, KXIP and some extent RR. These three franchises show no interest in auctions and also make some senseless tradings like DC traded Kevin Peterson to DD and Ojha to MI for no player in return and KXIP traded Dinesh Karthik to MI for Satish and huge amount of money. Maybe the fans of these three franchises are loosing interest which can be a reason for decreased tv viewership. PWI and DD which were pretty weak last season are trying hard to build up a good team this season. You can see that the games at Chennai, Banglore and Mumbai most often have packed houses, coz these franchises are active and have connected to the fans of those cities. So basically for the IPL to succeed it is for the franchises to take efforts to build up a good team and connect with its fans.

I agree with you that some team managements are bad, I know because I am a Deccan Chargers fan...... but my point is uncapped players like T. Suman , Rayadu, Manesh Pandey T. Suman was an integral part of the DC but he left for mumbai to become an extra batsman, why did you think he did that? hint hint $$$$$$ when Manesh Pandey left to PWI he was suspended for 5 games but why was T. suman not suspended might it have something to do with the fact that MI is the richest team? The current system in place means that the incentive to increase revenues falls more on the BCCI....... Because of Revenue sharing most team owners don't have to put in much work to get a good pay check this is the reason why I am saying that its really in the intrest of the BCCI to keep viewship high by keeping all the cities interested through out the tournment.......... BTW BCCI gets 30% of total revenue of IPL. thats a lot of money !!!!

Auction is a disgrace but I think its better than Draft considering that its a short tournament and for a draft to be effective there has to be another system of minor leagues and teams that have to play year round, this is not possible financially or practically But I love the Idea of 2 divisions winner makes it to semis 2nd and 3rd play for a spot in the semis.... it will keep more teams in the running until the end even teams with a bad start will still have a chance towards the end.... while at the same time 1st place is awarded with automatic place in the semis..... This is kind of like the NFL system

Auction may look disgrace or embarassment to purists..but it was done for hyping tourney..without auction ut should have been a soft start

Well I will agree with you on that. This can only be solved by more transparency and a equal say of IPL teams in management decisions. Clearly, when CSK owner is BCCI chairman, there have and will be problems. If you remember that only CSK + MI supported the retain system despite at the start of IPL, it was announced that after 3 years, all will be re auctioned. So some teams definitely have more say in internal affairs of IPL. So the internal management system has to be changed.

Cuz they have constantly been trying to remove some teams. That for me is the reason why there has been a loss of goodwill and credibility factor. And I would argue a reason why they will not be looking to increase international players is because of CSK + MI. As if more international players is allowed, it will benefit other teams more than those 2 teams.

That is the point that I am trying to make, Ratings are going to hurt really bad if BCCI removes teams, and continues with polices that favor richer teams....... all logic would point to this but I have no idea what the BCCI would do Now a days I feel that Lalit Modi days were much better for the IPL, now IPL managment is in the pocket of the 2 teams...... lets just take for example Azar Mahmood has to wait for a visa, this would never happen to MI or CSK....

But as I said this is corruption and internal politics. And this really symbolizes India so if anyone expects a quick solution, they need to think again. And it is a BCCI organization problem and off field problem and we as fans have little influence on it. But still overall, the onfield part suchs as quality of cricket is great. And Azhar Mahmood is something about security and maintaining protocols on people pakistan background. There is nothing to argue or blame on that.

Also reduce number of teams.. 5-6 quality teams is much better than 9 teams.
No. India is a big country and you do want to make different parts of the countries be represented. You just do not want the big money areas to be represented and as already 9 teams, any downsizing will only hurt the reputation. Particularly stupid when everyone looks to expand to succeed, here you are talking about the opposite. Say better rules and transparency but just remove some teams is the limit.
