vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I have to say.. Kohli's outfielding against chennai was on par with Australia's standards. Chasing, collecting, charging in, picking up and throwing everything was very much Australian. Very very impressive.
gaurav92 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I don't know much about fielding, but running between the wickets by Indian batsman has been way to ordinary. The calling, choice of run and effort to dive, ground the bat has been very sloppy.

GautiMaan Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 raina-took a great catch,rayudu effected a superb run-out,tiwary was not bad either
vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 raina-took a great catch' date='rayudu effected a superb run-out,tiwary was not bad either[/quote'] Who was the guy who hit the stumps in mid air? Was that PK? He is otherwise ordinary. But that run out was good.
gaurav92 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Perennial problem. Either not doing the basics or being far too casual. Yes. Gambhir one of the experienced players not doing the basics right speaks volumes of what is taught to players when they have their training sessions

Number Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Coming batsmen are much better fielders. Pandey, Mandeep, Pujara. Bowlers, hard to say they are even Cricketers. Can't bowl , Can't field.
J P K Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I never understood how mumbai fielding looks so good They have three poor fielder ojha munna Malinga All these guys field well in ipl
Zelig Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I never understood how mumbai fielding looks so good They have three poor fielder ojha munna Malinga All these guys field well in ipl $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 I never understood how mumbai fielding looks so good They have three poor fielder ojha munna Malinga All these guys field well in ipl Pollard makes it look good.. Overall i have to rate CSK is better fielding side. Ashwin is the only weak link. Others are reasonably safe and some are really good.
Number Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Ganguly's fielding was pretty good yesterday's game. :giggle:
vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 Rahane just did a fantastic dive on the fence. Saved a run :hatsoff:
Ram Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 All our young guys (Raina, Kohli, Rahane, Tiwarys, Rohit, Jadeja, Yadav, Ishant, Mithun etc) are fantastic fielders. The only exception is Ashwin. He is a 26 year old man in a 45 year old body. I dont think I have seen a more immobile mid-20s guy in my life.
vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 Now Rahane takes a brilliant catch right on the edge.
MCcricket Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Fielding standard has improved greatly in India, though domestic grounds are mostly real bad, running between the wickets is poor also spinners and bowlers normally is the area we lack good all round cricketers who can field also. If you look at is in a way for 3 months almost for rookies or younger players , IPL is like a global cricket academy to soak , learn, grow as a cricketer and having world class coaches and facilities at their disposal.IPL also gives you an idea where a youngster stacks up not in terms of scoring runs or taking wickets but you can determine if he belongs, DINDA this season seems like he has raised his game and is ready for international cricket.
vvvslaxman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 Few areas we are distinctly ordinary are throws, dives, slides, fielding on follow through. Some are good catchers but still poor throwers. They are not even remotely close to the stumps. Even guys like Yuvraj are poor in this area. I have said several times about how Kapil dev used to be deadly accurate when it comes to hitting the stumps. That is why i liked Virat who did very well in those areas. I have seen Murali taking so many spectacular diving caught and bowleds. Can't remember if any of our spinners are even half good as Murali even at this age.

By the time ishant bends his lazy azz down, they can run four runs...
