bulbul Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Mentioning the source is just a morally correct thing to do. For example saying I took this news from a British news website isn't enough. why you hate blitz :giggle:
Clarke Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 @OP Mentioning the actual poster's name would be good of you. Mentioning the source is just a morally correct thing to do. For example saying I took this news from a British news website isn't enough. :agree: Please give credit to whoever passed their docturate in math from west rawalpindi madrassa and managed to come up with this sham of an 'analysis'. Who knows, some day this great genius might make the first grandmaster from a tailunted country.
hhhhdmt Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 sachin has a good avg against pakistan in both odis and tests. waqar crapped his pants in tests as did shoaib akhtar. both of them decent odi averages as they managed to play india during the 90s when we had rubbish players in the team. shoaib's odi avg against india after 2003 wc is in the 40s whre he regularly got caned by srt' date='viru, dhoni, yuvi etc etc[/quote'] and based on what did waqar crap his pants in tests? based on two bad tests vs india when he was completely out of form? You provided absolutely no evidence for the claim. Waqar was past his best post 2000 anyway. And 24.5 is not a decent average, it is a very good average Shoaib is not among this discussion. It must also be mentioned that Waqar had an excellent test record vs the Windies when they were still the no 1 test team in the world (until 1995). He bowled really well against them and even in the early 90's, they were an excellent team. Waqar is certainly among the greatest bowlers of all time (even though he doesn't rank as high as Marshall, Akram or Mcgrath). sachin was averaging in the 30's vs pak in tests in the 90's. Only after Akram, Younis and Saqlain left did his average go up to the early 40's. Decent test record vs pak, nothing special though.

rkt.india Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 same with waqar. his bowling avg went up to the 40s only when sachin, sourav, dravid, laxman, azza came into the scene. he could not cope with the good batting that started appearing in india team. also like waqar sachin has a very good odi avg against pakistan. but unlike sachin who has a decent test record against pak waqaar doesn't even have a decent avg against india in tests. heck even akram's test record against india is nothing special, just decent just like sachin's record against pak. sachin : great odi record good test record waqar: great odi record crap test record Actually, Waqar is one of the greatest test bowler ever, but his peak was till 1995-1996 as a bowler after that he suffered injuries and was not the same bowler in 1999 when he played against India. He has one of the best SR for such a long career. I rate him very highly. He may not be the best, but still one of the best if we consider his peak performances and I think players' greatness should be considered based on their peaks. We can divide Waqar's career in two phases before 1996 and after 1996. Before 1996, he had played 44 matches taking 227 wickets at an average of 21.33 with 19 5 wicket hauls in just 44 tests, an amazing record to have. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/43543.html?class=1;spanmax1=31+Dec+1996;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround And after 1996, played 43 tests wickets 146 at an average of 27, still a better average than any Indian bowler till date, but in this time period he could take 3 five wicket hauls. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/43543.html?class=1;spanmin1=1+Jan+1997;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround

deathmonger Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 how about his strike rate? meaningless. sehwag has the highest strike rate. doesn't make him the best batsman of all time.

How in the world does waqar has a crap test record? he averaged under 24 in his career and anyone who averages under 25 in bowling is considered a great bowler. Waqar only played 4 tests vs india, only 4 and two of them took place during his worst form as a bowler. Besides waqar's record against the no 1 test west indian team is more significant than his record vs india. The west indian team of 90-95 was easily better than any indian team during waqar's career.

The west indian team of 90-95 was easily better than any indian team during waqar's career. i mean test record against india/pakistan. and if the west indian team was better why didn't he succeed in india. was it because of the fact that it's easier bowling to good batsmen on green wickets then it it is to bowl to good batsmen in flat wickets. that means there's a massive deficiency in his career. like i said he is like sehwag or jaya great players but with massive flaws in their resume. sachin is like wasim/mcgrath - complete careers with good records everywhere. as for waqar being in terrible form didn't all the india/pak series post 2003 wc happen when sachin was at his lowest. he still managed to have a goodish avg. that is the hallmark of a great player. if there were any series after srt's 2007-08 resurgence the avg would have reached 50.
panther Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 meaningless. sehwag has the highest strike rate. doesn't make him the best batsman of all time. for bowlers it is very important, overall waqar has good stats against all teams barring India and austraila to an extent averages 33 against them which is slightly below average.

the don Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 haters gonna hate .:haha: at the end of the day its because of greats like waqar that pakistan has such a superior test and odi record over teams like india.:yay:

bulbul Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 why should we produce a player to tie Waqars bootlaces...your own players done that and made him fall :giggle:
Naaz-neesh Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 So a chucker and a cheater tops the list' date=' sorry state of cricket.[/quote'] no indian bowler in top 10 which rather sums of th sorry (and embarassing) state of indian bowlers, surely law of probability dictates at least one would have come through :hysterical: india, land of trundler damned for eternity unable to produce a bowler capable of sub-25 average:hysterical:

Lurker Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 This thread can be summed up thus: a) The OP is retarded. This information could have been sent to a number cruncher in Phillipines, someone who didnt know there was a word called cricket and he would probably come up with similar results. All the expertise that happens here is on computer chip Pentium side, doesnt need a fan to do this. b) Many Indian fans are absolutely retarded in treating Waqar as some short of useless character. This from a nation that has never had a bowler, fast or spin, with remotely similar record as Waqar and hence fully deserve it when fans from other country has a go at them. c) Purely as a bowler Waqar was an all time great. Perod. End of discussion. Not amongst the top 10 bowlers of all times though.
