saneindian Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Sehwag has done absolutely nothing in test matches even at home for sometime now. Kept getting starts vs WI and throwing them away. Needs to be given ample time to get back to his big scoring form in tests. Also, wonder why we are talking even of resting these players. The Kiwis ran us very close last time and but for Bhajji, we could have lost the series.

According to sources, the itinerary will be finalized soon for the tour which will be about three-week long. "We are in the process of deciding the number of matches and working on whether the team will play four-day game or three-day ones. The itinerary will be ready in a week or so," a top BCCI official told TOI on Tuesday. The India 'A' team is scheduled to play three four-day matches, three one-dayers and two T20s in the West Indies. The New Zealand tour will be the last one of this season for the team. By the time, the players are back from New Zealand, the domestic season will be upon them. Sources said that BCCI is planning to send the A team on tours every year between the end of IPL and start of the domestic season. "We will try to make two tours for sure every season. After all, the 'A' team is the feeder line for the senior team," the official added. Sources said that Indian selectors are closely monitoring the performance of the players in the West Indies ahead of the selection in the Test side. India will be playing 10 Test matches between August and March.

adi B Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 great win, but most importantly 2 of the 3 batsmen who we see in the test team have done exceptionally well, rohit nd pujara that is...i hope this makes rahane more competetive nd he makes some runs nd not throw his wicket... saha is another one who has to perform to show his worth...talking about bowlers , i hope awana replaces koomar nd he nd shami do well in the series.. i would rather want so see more grass on the track nd more bounce, so that the class batsmen are separated from the rest nd our bowlers get a good track to bowl on

Agree from the only match (Duleep Trophy Final) i saw him bowl he was just too good with the new ball!! Chetu and Ahmed well done!! Went to sleep when it Rained with India A requiring 20 runs.. thought that it would end up as a draw!!

Cheteshwar Pujara led from the front in the series opener in Bridgetown, Barbados with half centuries in both the innings. Chasing a modest 186, India were in doldrums at five for 68 before Pujara played a captain's knock to guide the visitors to a thrilling win. Pujara, who struck a 50 in the first innings, was patience personified during his 96-run unbeaten knock in the second essay. He added 73 runs with number 10 batsman Shami Ahmed (27) to steer India after a spectacular collapse jeopardized the visitor's chances. Apart from Pujara, Rohit Sharma seemed in good nick in Barbados with scores of 94 and 23, while Manoj Tiwary (40) and wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha (56) also made useful contributions in the first innings. But going into the second match of the series, the major concern for India would be the performance of its top-order. Both the openers Abhinav Mukund and Shikhar Dhawan have failed to provide India a good start, and to add to the woes Ajinkya Rahane looked a pale shadow of himself at the crucial number three position. Pujara, however, took a giant stride towards Test breakthrough by virtue of his mature knocks and would be hoping to carry on his good form in the remaining matches. Contrary to the inconsistent performance of their batting colleagues, the Indian bowlers, however, were right on the money in both the innings, dismissing the hosts for modest scores of 252 and 210. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shafi Ahmed were the stand out performers among the pacers with five wickets apiece from the match, while leg-spinner Rahul Sharma and part-timer Rohit Sharma shared the honours in the spin department. India's most experienced bowler Ashok Dinda, however, looked out of sorts and will be desperate to prove his mettle in second four-day match. West Indies A, on the other hand, would be hoping to turn things around in order to keep the series alive. Just like the Indians, the Caribbean team has been hit hard by the inconsistent showing of its batsmen. The onus would be on the opening duo of Kraigg Brathwaite and Lendl Simmons to provide a solid start to the West Indies innings, which will set the platform for the likes of Devon Smith, Nkrumah Bonner and skipper Veeraswamy Permaul to fire in the middle order. In the bowling department, it was a complete pace show for the West Indies in the first match with the trio of Delorn Johnson, Jason Holder and Jonathan Carter accounting for all the Indian wickets. This was the original squad : SQUAD ANNOUNCED Cheteshwar Pujara (capt), Wriddhiman Saha (vice-capt), Abhinav Mukund, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Ashok Dinda, Jalaj Saxena, RP Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Robin Bist, Akshay Darekar, Shami Ahmed Of this, I think the only change was RP Singh replaced by Awana. Hope Awana plays anyway.
