It shows that A Tours are necessary for players to be accustomed to conditions outside of the subcontinent, where they are all strong. It is better that they fail and learn now rather than in a Test match. Good to see Pujara and Shami doing well though as I think both could be good Test match performers sooner rather than later. I also think Dinda is a very capable bowler, so we'll see how he does in the remaining game and a half.

If you can bowl well in IPL, you should be given a go in ODI and T20I, in the absence of a plethora of alternatives, imo. His First Class record is good, but not great so we need to be more apprehensive about Test selection. He has had a few okay seasons and a few poor ones. He is someone who should be in the A-Team scene in the 4 day game and someone who should always be higher in Test pecking order than a one season (Ranji, without A-Team) wonder, but he isn't someone who should be ahead of Dinda, imo. I noted Shami should be a Test performer sooner rather than later. I think he requires one more full Ranji season though. He is yet to string consistent performances for Bengal, he is currently living off three or four good games and that is not enough to prove someone as a long term option. He is 140kph and people have watched him and seen that he is good. However, someone like Dinda who put in hard yards and a lot of overs on flat pitches this year is someone I'd prefer to see play Tests sooner. His body is more accustomed to the workload of professional cricket too, he is a relative veteran compared to Shami.

His body is more accustomed to the workload of professional cricket too, he is a relative veteran compared to Shami. dinda is doing fine here but can he move the ball consistently ... his figures suggest tht he was hard to get away so pretty sure he has good control i want to see these matches so badly...if they can show so many random leagueso n tv then why not this :( and abt shami he has been our best bowler here and i agree he needs one more season i dont ever wanna pick raw bowler for tests again for some reason it hampers their progress after initial good performances

His Visa formalities got completed yesterday and he has now left for the WI. I had written exactly that when Awana was named as a replacement. Disappointing batting performance, so many 20s and 30s but just one 50, though in defense of the batsmen, going by the tweets, the pitch looks to be a tricky one and this is another low scoring match. The surprising part was to see the lesser known spinner dominate our batsmen most of whom are very good players of spin.

For every good innings, he plays 5 or 6 bad innings. The worst part is he seems to not put enough price on his wicket and gets out to indifferent shots.

Awana was picked in the India A team as a replacement for the injured RP Singh on May 26 and will now be joining the team in the middle of the second unofficial test against West Indies A. Sources indicated that Awana, whose impressive IPL performances earned him a ticket into the side, had lost out on playing time since he had a good chance of making it to the playing XI from the very first match. The delay was primarily because of the UK transit visa required for flying to the West Indies. "The team reaches Heathrow airport first and then takes a flight from Gatwick for the West Indies, which is why it takes a little more time for the visa clearance," a BCCI official confirmed. Awana applied for the visa right after his selection in the team and gave his finger prints on May 31. "It took around 10 days to get his visa.
