I still recall the eons of posts orgasming over Ganguly taking the wicket of Kevin Pietersen when as a matter of fact it was just a ball which kept low. It was talked about like an inspired bowling move, great captaincy etc. In the same vein, Ganguly should take the blame unless one his suggesting that PWI earlier wins were also a "team effort" and it wasn't the great Ganguly.

Ram Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 All things considered - Ganguly was not the only reason why PWI had such a dismal season. Yes, his under-par T20 batting was one of THE reasons, but not the only reason. It was a collective failure on part of the team. For whatever the reason was, they simply failed to click as a unit. Having said that - Its really time for our man Ganguly to step aside with dignity. He needs to understand that he was dropped from the Indian ODI side - forget the Indian T20 side, he never even got to play in it - as far back as 2007. His slow(er) batting and sub-par fielding was considered such a liability 5 years ago, he was dropped from the side at a time when we were not nearly the dominant ODI force that we are today. What makes him think that, 6 years after that, he can still make the cut in the young man's sport of T20? We all know Dada is a fight who does not give up (His comeback into the Indian test side in 2007 was a stuff of legends), but at some point you gotto take a step back. Dada needs to take a cue from somebody like Gilchrist, Dravid. Both of them understand that it has gotten to a point where they are no longer an asset to their team as player, but want to continue their involvement as a mentor/advisor. Dada definitely can do that. In fact, even before this whole PWI fiasco, SRK actually said before last year's auction that even though they did not pick Dada as a player, they would like him to join KKR as advisor, but Ganguly turned that down. Come on Dada - Stop the bleeding. We have seen enough already. You know that we all love you for what you did for Indian cricket. Now dont push the patience envelope!
