Executioner Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Well, the showdown at pune will be a big match between two of the most flawless teams in the tournament. One team with a good fast bowling unit and even more brilliant batting lineup. The other team with captain leading from the front with good form with the bat and undoubtedly the strongest bowling lineup and 2 of the best spinners in the tournament so far: sakib and narine, with the latter unplayable so far DD has been almost flawless, with some failures but apart from that a brilliant team. Morkel, warner doing well. Jayawardene and taylor may not be in the best of touches but both showed hint of form recently. Morne morkel on top of his game and so are the two most promising fast bowlers in India: yadav and aaron. They bat deep despite the fact they dont have a good finisher and russel cudve done the trick but probably will get the chop. However, DD lack a quality spinner and their players apart from Jaya and sehwag are not the best of players against Spin. And not to mention, the match will be held in Pune, a heavan for spinners. KKR also has been on top of the game with problems with their Team XI but as soon as their top players started performing the team looked as strong as they are on paper. The batting lineup hasnt clicked barring the captain GG and sakib, callum, YP, tiwary showing ONLY hint of form recently. However, even if they score less than 150 theyll back their brilliant bowlers to win the match for them. Sakib, narine, balaji, abdullah and kallis all have been in terrfic form with the ball and who can forget narine's ability? And big plus is that they are playing on the same pitch as yesterday so definitely they will feel more suited in this pitch than DD Who has the edge? Gonna be a tough call
Jersey #10 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Kkr b/c of Sunil Narine. Any team can smack the ball on their day but Kkr has good bowlers
yoda Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Sehwag will be the deciding factor. Minus Sehwag I feel they are evenly matched.
JourneyMan Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 It's always hard to tell with Sehwag, sometimes he's on fire and at other times he can edge it in the first over. If Sehwag and Warner go all out, between the two of them they can set an unbeatable total. It will be interesting to see Sehwag vs Narine, especially since Sehwag said he would smack him around. End of the day, DD have the edge. As good as KKR are, McCullum is far from his best and Kallis seems to have slumped. Narine is dangeorus but decent batsmen will take care of the rest. They need to play it patiently for Narine's spelll and go after YP and Bhatia. Morkel will need to do his homework and try and take Gambhir out right at the beginning.
bangladeshifan Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 if its played in a pitch similar to this its gonna be kkr
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 If Sehwag smashes Narine well....:( We need either a good batting pitch or a slightly green pitch not a pathetic pitch like this.DD has very good players of spin.
bangladeshifan Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 / Not if Viru stays for more than 10overs. if sewag stays more than 10 overs dd will win in any pitch
vvvslaxman Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 KKR simply because they have an attack that is suited to chennai surface. Yes Viru can destroy spinners even on a turning track. But once you get past him it could be an easy road for them. On the other hand DD heavily depends on Gauti.
vvvslaxman Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Another important aspect is Viru is a dumb as a captain. He can often be mediocre. But Gauti atleast when defending a total executes the plan very well. He slows things down when batsmen going berserk.

Zelig Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Whoever wins the toss. If Viru/Warner go berserk in the first three overs, GG will be forced to bring in Nars early in the inns. Thus the KKR cappo will have to change the set pattern he has been employing with the Trini spinner - 5th, 12th, 18th & 20th. For me the key bowler(s) are actually Balaji/Saqib/Kallis. If they can get Viru out early, advantage KKR. I'm also guessing that Morne will get GG out cheaply and KKR will get to a respectable total (140ish) thanks to Kallis. Prediction: KKR win. Kallis MOTM. PS: Viru should not have missed two matches in a row. :om:
rkt.india Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Dont think match will be played on this pitch. They have prepared a pitch just next to this pitch which has some green grass covering. Hope, they keep the grass on it.
Executioner Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 on most other flat track DD wud win easily. But this is the pitch were even bowlers like Yuseless will become usefell and yadav and aaron wont have any purchase, same case with morkel. It should be spin-spin-spin. Also, KKR just played in Pune yesterday so they are more used to the conditions
J P K Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 DD `s Team is stronger than kkr but pitch and toss might decide the match

Hope' date=' they keep the grass on it.[/quote'] If they play on this pitch, I don't think DD can win it. They just don't have good spinners to trouble likes of Gauti. Hopefully pitch will have some grass on it. That will make it a good contest. KKR can play Brett Lee in that case.
DaFan Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Obviously Iceman Shakib, performing under pressure is his game.
