But after seeing some players catch cold feet in big matches we have to wait and see how many guys do that in final. Once again it will be down to nerves. Gauti is mentally very strong guy.. But are his teammates?

Manny_Pacquiao Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 gauti is xtra motivated to win it in front of CSK cheeka, uska mouch ko ukhaad-dena chahta hai woh after he had his vice captaincy taken away. interesting scenario, isnt it. if gambhir wins the ipl, will kohli still be the vice captain? kohli has been the flop of the tournament by a long way (considering how everyone was willing to blow him after his hundreds) with both bat and as captain. gambhir, by contrast, has scored stacks of runs and led very well. we will have to see if maderjaat CSK cheeka can swallow his pride and make gautam vice captain again... u have a guy like kallis who can bat thru the innings and at least prevent collapses, u have tuka hitters down the order like debu das and shukla. then there is yusuf, who is gonna make another score in the final against a spin-heavy bowling attack, just the kind of pie-chuckers he has smacked around throughout his career. bowling isnt even a contest. narine, abdulla, shakib, are waaay beter than shabab jhakati, jadeja, and that other loser they usually play. kolkata's bowlers can take wickets thru good bowling, but dhongi relies on spread fields, scorecard pressure and batting mistakes to get wickets for his dhakkan bowlers.

Even though Kohli was exposed as a captain, IPL outings will have little bearings when you select players for international that too for a different format. Only reason i don't want Kohli as a captain is (in caseDhoni rests), i want him to play freely without any worry about captaincy. He is a gun batsman we have found after years. We shouldn't lose him due to captaincy pressure.

We shouldn't lose him due to captaincy pressure.[/quote'] i am not so sure about that, i think it could have a bearing on selection if the media starts talking about it, which im sure they will. especially when u now have ppl making public statements about gambhir's captaincy, theres gotta be some sense of injustice over him losing that VC spot, and its clearly not being felt by the player alone. bottom line, it wasn't something he deserved. yeah, kohli is a huge player for us, and up there with dhoni as india's best odi player but gambhir was pretty stellar over the last year too. even if he didnt make eye-popping scores like kohli, he was really consistent and lets not forget that he won india the world cup final. even if kohli's captaincy wasn't complete ****, he still didn't deserve to be VC ahead of gambhir.

Don't think they will be doing shuffling again without rhyme or reason . We should not make a big issue out of vice captaincy. Gauti knowing a team man who often gives away man of the matches to his teammembers and paying rich complements to his team members. He won't have any issue with Kohli being VC.May be some rift between him and Dhoni. Not confirmed though. I am not going to judge Kohli at all based on this circus. He is world no.3 ranked ODI player through consistent performance. He is inexperienced. But nothing wrong in grooming him for future.
