Sachin=GOD Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 PM candidate at best. He will never be PM. yeah. In fact, if his performance is even slightly below expectations (and that is not impossible because this time the hype has been way too much and expectations range from 115 to 140 in a n Assembly of 182.) then that would give his detractors the chance they have been waiting for.
CSK Fan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Denial factor at work again. Not denial, its the perception of progress rather than actual progress which matter. Modi has a huge PR machine and it was at full time work to gloss over the cracks and exxagerate the development. But as you say, at best Modi will be a PM candidate but even that might not be true because of infighting among BJP and also allies
yoda Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Dude' date=' we had the CPM who completely destroyed WB rule the State for 38 years. So approval means nothing[/quote'] Except for those minor factors like Gujarat's growth rate, prosperity, etc.

It must hurt at some level to your lot? :haha:
ravishingravi Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Kanspiracy. Minority dominated areas which also tradionallly voted for Kangress went for Modi. So, inspite of Keshubhai factor, resistance from RSS and radical VHP elements, this is a huge victory. How could this be ? Pseudo secular wrist slitters. Pls take charge.
urbestfriend Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Almost all the Exit polls say Modi to win more seats than last time..... if this does happen then it will be a HUGE step towards Modi's dream of being PM. Why linking his PM aspiration with no of seats he gets? It looks more of conspiracy of English media to stop Modi when they realized that they are not going to stop him from becoming CM once again..

They seem to have an agenda and will build their conspiracy and facts to meet that end. Everyone does it. Extent to which it goes, does matter. There is a difference between having an opinion and backing and being a fundamentalist.
Sachin=GOD Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Why linking his PM aspiration with no of seats he gets? It looks more of conspiracy of English media to stop Modi when they realized that they are not going to stop him from becoming CM once again.. Because in Gujarat it wasn't a matter of Modi winning but of the margin of his victory. Just wait and watch - if he gets even 5-6 seats less than last time, it will severely dent his claim to PM's post. Also, despite very impressive growth figures and overall development and employing possibly the most extensive PR machinery in the history of Indian elections, if he can't win more seats than last time in his home state then people are bound to question his ability to lead the party on a National Level. p.s. right now it does look like he will win less seats than last time - this IMO will be the best thing to happen for the BJP.
CSK Fan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Except for those minor factors like Gujarat's growth rate' date=' prosperity, etc.[/quote'] There are other states with similar growth, prosperity. Bengal example was to show that there are leaders with strong local stranglehold and that need not be connected to actual progress but just perception of progress
CSK Fan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 10 years of propaganda and nothing to show for it. It must hurt at some level to your lot? :haha: Well your propoganda was better, so you won. We can be happy with the national level thing than chest thumping about winning in 1 state. You seem to consider it a huge achievement that you won in one state where you had a good standing. What about losing Himahcal to congress?
rageaddict Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 NDTV is reporting BJP tally in Gujrat to 121 .
CSK Fan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Lol, at BJP themselves trying to underplay this huge victory and describing it as modest. Are they trying to tone down Modi?

CSK Fan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 HP always votes the opposition in' date=' 4 years from now BJP will win and then congress. I don't know why[/quote'] Yeah, lots of states are like that. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are 2 others
asterix Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Given that recently majority of the NDA ruled states have gone for the polls, I think BJP & NDA allies have done well to retain some of the states. No need for Kangress supporters to gloat if some states are won due to anti-incumbency.. We have to see what happens when Kangress states go to polls..
ganeshran Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 In the 2014 elections, Congress has a lot to gain from Modi's victory in Gujrat today. Ensuring Modi remains in the spotlight will drive away allies with substantial minority vote from the BJP, and consolidate the anti Modi vote with Congress. Though Modi's presence does polarize the middle and lower middle classes to a certain extent, the vote gains in this department wont be enough to offset the losses to their campaign because of similar polarization on the other side. In other words Congress would be able to demonise Modi and make voters vote on emotional lines by glossing over the mega corruption scams and dismal economic record in their tenure. The BJP+SS+JD combo cant be expected to cross 200 even if does much better than expected. SP, BSP, Left wont touch them with a flagpole and the best they can do is to hope to persuade ADMK and TMC. Unless both JJ and Mamata win their respective states by a landslide, the NDA cannot reach the 272 mark.

Naveen Patnaik, Chandrababu Naidu could also rejoin NDA. At the end of the day the fact remains that the next PM candidate will certainly be from BJP (not Nitish Kumar as some have been suggesting) but it will be a consensus candidate and in that scenario Modi does not have any chance at all.
1983-2011 Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 It'll be Arun Jaitley, leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha from 2014. What about Gadkari, his term is ending in few months as the party president.
