Narendra Modi inaugurates 'airport-like' bus terminal, promises more VADODARA: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that six to eight "world-class" bus stations will be constructed across the state in the near future. He inaugurated a GSRTC Bus Station that has been constructed under Public-Private Partnership at the cost of Rs 110 crore here this evening. The purpose was to provide airport-like facilities to the thousands of the passengers who travel by state transport buses, he said. The new bus terminal is spread over 2,039 sq mt and has a supermarket, shopping mall, multiplex, restaurant and food court, commercial offices, and a budget hotel on the premises. Modi said on this occasion that that the state had recruited 115 women bus conductors. Women had also been hired as forest guards at Gir sanctuary, he said. He also dedicated Rs 43-crore Manjalpur outdoor sports complex and inaugurated a new medical college and a hostel building constructed on the premises of Gotri Medical College. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated an auditorium in Surat, built in the memory of renowned Hindi film actor Sanjeev Kumar (whose real name was Haribhai Zariwala), who hailed from the city. seedhi Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 “State will get Rs. 2500 crore royalty per year thanks to ONGC verdict in SC” The Supreme Court of India has in its interim order asked Oil and Natural Gas Corporation(ONGC) to pay crude oil royalty to Gujarat on pre-discounted crude price. The court asked ONGC to pay royalty for present and future beginning from February 1. Following this the state will start getting about Rs. 200 crore royalty per month. The state treasury will earn Rs. 2500 crore as crude oil royalty every year according to minister Saurabh Patel. Minister Patel described this order as victory of the people of Gujarat. He said the verdict proves a point that central government was doing injustice to Gujarat. He said Chief Minister Narendra Modi had taken this issue seriously and made representation before central government on this issue time and again. Finally, court has also approved Gujarat government’s version. The minister said, generally crude oil royalty is paid as per the market price, but following April-2008 directive of central government, ONGC had started paying royalty through different method of pre-discounted price. Gujarat suffered huge loss of Rs. 9779.70 crore royalty as on 31 January 2014 and Rs. 3758.31 crore loss of penalty over unpaid royalty during same period. The state government filed petition in the High Court in 2011. In its order on 30 November 2013, Gujarat High Court asked ONGC to pay pending amount in two months and pay royalty to state as per the previously existing system. ONGC had challenged this decision in Supreme Court. These FAB units are to be set up by two business consortia, with the following broad project parameters: (i) M/s Jaiprakash Associates Limited (with IBM, USA and Tower Semiconductor Limited, Israel as partners) a) Project Cost: Rs 34,399 crore b) Technology: 90/65/45/28 nm c) Capacity: 40,000 WSPM d) Location: Yamuna Expressway, Uttar Pradesh (ii) M/s HSMC Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. (with ST Microelectronics and Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. as partners) a) Project Cost: Rs 29,013 crore b) Technology: 90/65/45/28/22 nm c) Capacity: 40,000 WSPM d) Location: Prantij, Gujarat Letter of intent will be issued to the two consortia by March 31, 2014. The final agreements are expected to be signed by August 2014. The Empowered Committee has been authorized to take all decisions to implement the FAB projects in furtherance of the decision. The proposed FABs will create direct employment of about 22,000 and indirect employment of about one lakh. These FABs will have a big impact on the development of Electronics System Design and Manufacturing eco-system across the country. This will help set up a critical pillar required to promote Electronics System Design and Manufacturing in India. The Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication units when set up, will stimulate the flow of capital and technology, create employment opportunities, help higher value addition in the electronic products manufactured in India, reduce dependence on imports, and lead to innovation. The following main incentives will be extended: i. 25% subsidy on capital expenditure and tax reimbursement as admissible under Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (M-SIPS) Policy. ii. Exemption of Basic Customs Duty (BCD) for non-covered capital items iii. 200% deduction on expenditure on R&D as admissible under Section 35(2AB) of the Income Tax (IT) Act. iv. Investment linked deductions under Section 35AD of the IT Act. v. Interest free loan of approx. Rs 5124 crore each. (Exact amount to be calculated on Detailed Project Report appraisal.) Background The Government had in 2011 constituted an Empowered Committee (EC) to identify technology and investors and to recommend incentives to be provided to set up two FAB facilities in the country. The Empowered Committee had issued a Global Expression of Interest inviting technology providers and investors to set up the FAB facilities. This Committee submitted its recommendations to the Government in March 2013. The Cabinet, at its meeting held on 12.9.2013, considered the recommendations of the EC and accorded ‘in-principle’ approval to the two consortia referred to above and to the package of incentives. The Cabinet also decided that all other FAB manufacturers may also be appropriately and fully apprised of the quantum of subsidy/other benefits/support being offered for establishing FAB facilities in India. Such manufacturers may be asked to indicate their interest / send their responses on specified parameters to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) within a period of four weeks. As decided by the Cabinet, the second Expression of Interest (EoI) was published, which clearly specified the project parameters required as well as the package of incentives being offered by Government of India. 106 potential FAB manufacturers across the world were also directly addressed. No new proposal has been received for setting up of a FAB as per EoI requirements. Why doesn't he resign if he is so keen on becoming PM. Gujrat people need a full time CM not some caretaking stuff. Read the report. Each state in India has a different poverty line. Gujarat has a relatively high poverty line. If the national average poverty line were used for all states then Gujarat would be amongst the best. Of course you can't expect a Kejritard to appreciate the nuances.

Especially considering poverty threshold being extremely low( Rs10,17,20,30 or whatever). 2. You said Gujarat percentage is acceptable since guj. has relatively high poverty line. Thats indeed a pathetic 'explanation' and public ko chewtiya banane ka attempt. 3. All india poverty rate in 2004-05 is 37.2% and in 2011-12, it is 21.92%. Thats 41.1% reduction. In gujarat , poverty rate in 2004-05 is 31.6% and in 2011-12, it is 16.63%. Thats 47.4% reduction. As we can see, there's not much difference in All india performance and Gujarat's performance. Plus there are many states which have done better than Gujarat in poverty reduction. Meri jaan, apne preconceived notions ko overcome karo. And like I said, HDI data is even worse.
