Needforspeed Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Let me ask you one thing' date=' has not having bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan for last 4 years helped this 26/11 cause in any way?[/quote'] Exactly the reason why the ties should not resume. At least it hurts Pakistan in some way. If my neighbour is plotting and attempting to to kill me or harm me , would I want my kid to play with his kids. The answer is simply NO. I am sure this is what majority of the people will naturally do. Its common sense. But reading some of the comments here , one feels that common sense is not so common.
kubrickian Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Shame on Indian politicians for even talking about cricket ties. Womanmohan Singh should hang his head in shame, that's if he has any left already. This guy has sold his dignity and self respect a long time ago when he became a chaprasi for Madam.
jairamesh Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Exactly the reason why the ties should not resume. At least it hurts Pakistan in some way. I am sure this is what majority of the people will naturally do. Its common sense. But reading some of the comments here , one feels that common sense is not so common. Simple and excellent analogy. If this tour happens then it will be an absolute travesty. There is a reason why cricketing bi-lateral ties were cancelled. And nothing has changed to indicated these ties should resume. The lack of backbone in some our politicians and also some fans is just sad and pathetic.
Pagalpanti Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 This is what I posted in another thread 1. Pakistan fans still hate India and particularly one group of people starting with H. 2. Indian fans would be divided but the overall consensus would be built on "aman ki aasha" 3. IF another attack happens, it changes the whole environment back again. It is fans who decide if they should come. Sadly many have short term memories and suddenly are believing again in the "aman ki aasha". Look, nothing wrong in wanting peace but that does not mean peace comes through playing cricket together. Peace comes through stopping all those terrorist attacks and stopping the infiltration. No point and logic, in believing that cricket will help both countries relationship as that is not correct. As the only positive is for Pakistan side only, which is they are going to get a free money for no obvious reasons. And the less said about the hatred of their players + fans for majority of our public due to religion. Resuming cricketing ties doesn't mean 'aman ki asha' its just moving on with the sport. Stopping bilateral ties was wrong in the first place because everything other than cricket seemed to be continuing between 2 countries after 26/11. If our govt was really serious about catching the perpetrators of 26/11 they wouldn't have just stopped at cricketing ties, they would also have taken military action to take out the militants in Pakistan. Its ridiculous to even think just stopping cricketing ties would make Pakistan surrender their militants. By stopping bilateral ties PCB would be affected but not Pakistan as whole or stop their militancy. Exactly the reason why the ties should not resume. Your analogy fails because not everything was stopped between the 2 countries, it was just cricket. Obviously it failed to bring any results thats why its being resumed.
jairamesh Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 ^^^ yes apparently India's economic trade with Pakistan is the hundreds of billions, and apparently hockey games attracts millions of fans and massive tv revenue! Get real, there was a good reason why cricket was chosen as defacto for symbolic gesture. It was the only thing India-Pakistan shared that was high profile, attracted millions, and that would sting the pakis, and it has. All biLateral cricketing ties and IPL ban shud continue.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Let me ask you one thing' date=' has not having bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan for last 4 years helped this 26/11 cause in any way?[/quote'] It took 22 years of boycott of SA for them to get away from appartheid. I don't really care how long the status quo remains but we should continue. As I said earlier we decided on cutting the bi-lateral ties few years back and just after 4 years we are ourselves asking for ties to resume. Why this change of heart? Do we not have enough self-respect or don't value our word enough? If we go back on our resolutions every single time how do you expect others to take us seriously and understand we mean business when apparently we ouselves don't take ourselves seriously enough. Let me tell you another way this boycott may work. If we continue with the cricketing boycott, which is the most high profile and popular ties within Pakis & India, and Pakis watch India being the centre of world cricket with Pakis ostracized it will send them a messag that India means business in the future and India doesn't simply come up with empty threats and just after a token boycott of 2-3 years everything will be back to normal. As I said earlier we need stronger backbone for that to happen and I wish someone like Narendra Modi becomes a PM soon.
Vilander Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 There are talks that MMS will be traveling to Pakistan for a state visit sometime later this year, the first visit by an Indian PM post Vajpayee's visit. Surely all this talk of bilateral series is related to that. I will not be surprised if our team is forced to even tour Pakistan for a short series as a good will gesture by our brain dead politicians. an other reason to vote for BJP however pathetic they are they value Indian feelings.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 an other reason to vote for BJP however pathetic they are they value Indian feelings. I distinctly remember Vajpayee & Advani caving in during the Kandhar hijacking episode, doing nothing when Kargil happened, and Vajpayee was the one who embarked on that "friendship tour" by taking a bus to Pakiland. Fact is most of the politicians are the same - be it Congress or BJP. What we need is someone with a backbone and balls a la Modi (I may be proven wrong but it's a chance we have to take) no matter which political party the person belongs to.

Womanmohan Singh should hang his head in shame' date=' that's if he has any left already. This guy has sold his dignity and self respect a long time ago when he became a chaprasi for Madam.[/quote'] St. Sonia Matha's influence is there alright...but another reason is MMS' Paki birth and the emotional memories he carries with him. Almost all Paki born Indian politicians have this die hard fantasy of love making with Pakis even when Pakis massacre Indian babies for fun like in Mumbai. For more go to Paki American forums to see the "one way" love fest between Pakis and Indians of Paki Origin like MMS. Paki-Americans, Brit-Pakis and regular Pakis uniformly hate everything Indian even when they have not lived with Hindus in Pakistan post 1947 and thus logically shouldnt have any perceived communal feelings of Injustice.
Zelch Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Perfectly put. It's not a BJP is better than Congress argument. Its a problem of Indian people as a whole. Even our so called right is very spineless and effete... so to coverup they have this almost leftist policies.

Disagree with second part of your post Sir jee. You tube and forums are not the best place to judge the true feelings. I say the experiences of ppl who have interacted with each other in life paint the true picture. If one goes by nonsense spouted online then there is no hope but my wider interactions with Indians in UK paint a completely different picture.

You are just replying to a bunch of hormonal kids on the internet. They have no idea how much peace or freeze between the two country's affect lakhs of people from both country. Their entire experience of Indo-Pak issue ois through forums and you tubes so stopping all ties is just another way for them to show up Pakistani posters on the internet, its nothing to do with actual Indo-Pak reality

And I dont think Modi has the balls to do anything, he can only harm defenseless people from his own country under his own rule

On the contrary, most Pakistani people that i have met in England (people who were born and spent most of their life in Pakistan before moving) get on quite well with Indian people. I have not found a great deal of animosity between Indians and Pakistani people in England. However, i haven't been to places like Bradford and some other parts of Northern England where people of Pakistani origin have a bad reputation so could not common on Indian and Pakistani relations there.

Debutant Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Won't be surprised if Team India is forced to play in Pakistan by Manmohan ji.
