I played my first game of cricket after a similar but perhaps slightly more severe condition than Yuvraj. My bowling was all over the place but what most surprised me was how poor my stamina was, even despite doing a fair bit of cardio. So I think that will be the main hurdle for Yuvi.

BTW if u dont mind my asking, how long did it take for you to get back to your original stamima levels? I think Yuvi will have to do a lot of physical training for his stamina and nets for his cricketing skills. IMO Yuvi should first play a few domestic matches. We have to think long term. He should not be rushed for the T20 WC.

I had surgery which means my recovery time was longer. I never had any doubt that Yuvraj would be fighting fit no more than one year after his treatment finished. This is only if he trains hard though.

Yuvi needs more time to be match fit. He needs to play domestic games this season and he should be back next year. The T20 Cup or intl games this home season is too early for him to make a comeback.

of course' date=' yuvi picks himself up, no one drops or picks him, the guy single handedly won us the world cup. :hatsoff:[/quote'] And played a huge part in T20 one as well. Should be picked and tried out. See how he goes, wouldn't expect him to return to his best in first few games though.

The term 'match-winner' is thrown around wrongly to justify inconsistent players but Yuvraj really does win matches by himself with his excellent play of spin and ability to score quickly.

UV will have the best support and advice around him plus i hear he already has started doing light training. His cancer didnt seem to be life threatening and i am sure he will be back to how he was and get his strength back, he is a fighter from Punjab not a grass eater from Gujarat. With Pathan firmly cementing his place at number 7 we can play 4 specialist bowlers and have pathan and uv filling the other overs.

Yuvraj Singh, according to sources, is set to make a comeback for the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka in September. As per sources, The National Cricket Academy has sent his report to the BCCI and Yuvraj will almost certainly make the cut. The T20 squad for the World Cup is to be picked tomorrow in Mumbai. Meanwhile sources also say that BCCI doctors have declare Yuvraj Singh fit to play cricket after submitting his fitness report. The selectors who are to pick the final squad for the World Twenty20 Championship in Sri Lanka in September had earlier indicated that Yuvraj Singh, who is training at the NCA after recovering from a rare germ cell cancer, is in contention for a spot. "It will depend on the fitness certificate that he will get from the NCA," a selection committee source had then told PTI. He has always been on the BCCI radar and recently BCCI official and IPL governing council chairman Rajeev Shukla too had shown satisfaction on his fitness.
