ATTARI: (Punjab): Minutes after stepping on home soil after spending over 30 years in Pakistani jails, Surjeet Singh admitted that he was a Indian spy sent to Pakistan. "I was a RAW ( Research and Analysis Wing) agent. No one bothered for me after I got arrested. Don't ask me too much.....otherwise the BSF (Border Security Force) will get annoyed," he told media just after his arrival here. Within seconds of his making this statement, BSF officials sitting besides him took him away to a room for a briefing. Ironically, during his over three decades in Pakistani jails, Surjeet had contested the fact that he was a spy. He was sentenced to death earlier but that was later commuted to life imprisonment. "I will never return to Pakistan again," Surjeet, who has a grey flowing beard, told reporters in Punjabi with his head and finger indicating a firm "no" gesture. "I was arrested earlier for spying charges. If I return again, the security agencies might suspect that I have come for spying again," he said. Surjeet said prisoners on both sides of the border should be released by the respective governments. "I was treated well by prison officials and I am thankful to them," he said.

this statement will now have an impact on Sarabjit Singh's case
Why ? We've fought 3/4 wars and come close to some more and then there's the proxy war all along. Spying from either side wouldn't surprise the dumbest of all.

You mean to say if a person is caught in enemy country and given inhuman torture for days ,his only hope of stopping that torture to confess the crime which he never committed.then what should that person do? Also we all know how easy it to dub the video with some other person's voice

People are known to have given many false statements and confessions under duress in far less intimidating circumstances. Some of such statements have even come live under oath in a court of law, let alone a video recording. You don't have to go far, our own Indian police specializes in getting such confessions almost as an everyday routine. There is a reason why such statements are considered inadmissible as evidence in many countries, unless it's a death-bed confession. I am not saying that he is definitely not a terrorist, but such evidence is not enough to conclude that he is definitely a terrorist.
