Old guy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 18 yr old brett lee was clocked at 148k. diff then bowling like tht in tests and odis for long spells at international level... more over cumming's action is such unless he gets stronger he will have lots of injuries and well he is just 19 im sure when he will be near 23-24 he will be fully fit for tests
MCcricket Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 This was predicted the first time I saw him bowl, he puts too much strain on his body while bowling and his trunk rotation is not ideal, he, Pattinson, Starc am not sure if any will have a long career.
Sidhoni Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Lee was devastating early in his teens. If I recall correctly' date=' he has said when he was 14-15 (approx) years old, he used to hit 140km/h+. Now I don't know if that's true or not.[/quote'] I do not believe this is true.
rkt.india Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 What a great talent . Such a waste Why waste? he is just 19.
rkt.india Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 18 yr old brett lee was clocked at 148k. Cummins at 18 already clocked 150K
rkt.india Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 ^ Do you have a video? :hmmm: There is a video of his bowling when he was around 21 in 1996 and he was quick but not like devastating, was certainly in 140K range.
Serani Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 What a great talent . Such a waste Hes not dead mate, he has a side strain he will be back.
ravishingravi Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Hes not dead mate' date=' he has a side strain he will be back.[/quote'] Well he might come back. But this does not offer great sign. In any case with his action, he will injury prone.
audioman Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Seems like people are forgetting just how injury-prone Dale Steyn was when he burst on the scene. Look at what he has become now.
panther Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 Cummins at 18 already clocked 150K yh and a few others like milne, amir were also clocked at over 150k at 18.
rkt.india Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 yh and a few others like milne' date=' amir were also clocked at over 150k at 18.[/quote'] Ishant also..
rkt.india Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Seems like people are forgetting just how injury-prone Dale Steyn was when he burst on the scene. Look at what he has become now. Mitchell Jonhson, Morne, James Anderson all were injury prone in their early days..
rkt.india Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Well he might come back. But this does not offer great sign. In any case with his action' date=' he will injury prone.[/quote'] Most genuine fast bowlers at 19 will be injury prone. Brett Lee had the similar issues of lateral flexion in his action early on. Cummins can easily correct the issues in his action. They are not as bi as in Mithun's case.
rkt.india Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 he should cut down his pace or he will keep getting injured No. He should just work on his action a little, he will be alright. One need to work on his issues. Even if he slows, he will still get injured because of the issue in his action and that is not a big issue. His problem is runs in an angle towards fine leg and then pivots and delivers the ball from wide out side off stump. That pivot or fall towards left is what leads to injuries, especially back injuries. He needs to run in a straight line and stay straight while delivering the ball to prevent that fall. he has a mixed action and then the fall makes him prone to injuries.
rkt.india Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 not just the pivot but also the fact that he keeps his back foot landed on the ground even as he twists ' date= there are two options one is either shorten the stride or lift the back foot quicker than what he is doing but both options will lead to reduced pace . That is because he has mixed action. That will not be a problem if he stays straight in the stride like James Pattinson who runs very straight and stays straight even while delivering the ball.
Cricket Tragic Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Hes not dead mate' date=' he has a side strain he will be back.[/quote']
ChanaLal Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Just seen this being tweeted. Sounds logical and really good observations: http://blogs.bettor.com/Pat-Cummins-must-straighten-his-run-up,-feels-Ian-Pont-Cricket-News-Update-a167804
Crookbond Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 There is a video of his bowling when he was around 21 in 1996 and he was quick but not like devastating' date=' was certainly in 140K range.[/quote'] Rob's Video of a practice game in Australia and he runs out Steve Waugh of his own bowling?
rkt.india Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Rob's Video of a practice game in Australia and he runs out Steve Waugh of his own bowling? :agree: and he had to change that action because he got ruptured back from that.
