coffee_rules
What state ground is available for ICL? The big birdie might be Sunil M Gavaskar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prem Panicker in his blog, http://www.prempanicker.com/index.php says: A little birdie—actually, make that a very big birdie, the biggest there is in Indian cricket—has been whispering not so gently into the ears of BCCI honchos, asking them to tone down their aggro against the ICL. Kind of like sledging—there are times when it can be counter-productive, and this particular birdie believes that time has come vis a vis the ICL? For why? Trace it to a series of factors: (1) The ICL is close to cracking the problem of grounds, and most likely, will very soon be in a position to announce that it has access to one of the largest venues in the country (and this is in addition to the Railways facilities Lalu Prasad Yadav has already gifted them; (2) Some of the lesser state associations, that have duly voted for the BCCI and got nothing, not even an inconsequential one dayer, in return have shown recent signs of falling into the ICL’s lap; with that, come the facilities in those states, and a sizeable audience starved of live cricket; and (3) Subhash Chandra has been having a series—okay, make that two—meetings, both of them lasting well over two, three hours, with a certain Jagmohan Dalmiya, subsequent to the latter’s announcement that he is not contesting the CAB elections this time. You can’t help but smile—the BCCI thought it had the ICL in a cleft stick, and talked tough when with a bit of commonsense and diplomacy it could have partnered with the nascent league and added to its own portfolio. In its arrogance, it drove the ICL away—and now, it is getting its nose rubbed in a gradually building revolt. Seriously, this calls for a few more beers… cheers. Link to comment
sm332
well if Dalmiya is the power broker ... then a number of possibilities open up given his past relationships ... prolly not Eden Gardens ... but i think there are some other big grounds which would be happy to entertain some live cricket Link to comment
beetle
It's good to see BCCI sweating . Good for the game. But I think the teams good performance will help BCCI .Not many people will be interested in the league when the Indian team is playing well and so often. Waisay this ICL was started taking advantage of the team's bad performance at the WC.Infact when it was announced ...this subhash chandra guy , seeing the mood of the people made some really indecent jokes on national TV at the expense of the team.It takes a big man to not kick someone when they are down and out. This man proved himself a midget that day. The Outsider
Dalmiya will be a good pick for ICL. He is a slimy politician but has the ability to offer enough carrots to everyone to get things moving. Link to comment
