Michael Holding not impressed by Pattinson

When asked during the Sky Sports coverage whether he was impressed by Pattinson, Holding answered: "Can't say I'm impressed - he looks OK. "It's not something that I would put my corn flakes down to come and watch." "The first time I saw Brett Lee he seemed to be someone that I would put down lunch, breakfast, dinner to watch. "But Brett Lee was an immediate success for me. He looked smooth, he just looked as if everything just came natural to him.

Looked very ordinary against England and in West Indies. With this attitude..he isn't getting anywhere. It was his 2nd match and he had made himself M.Marshal. 3751326-3x4-700x933.jpg

our maharathis were facing this bum as if they were facing Malcolm Marshall in his prime. Aussies are such an ordinary team and yet we got walloped by bums like this and Hilfy.

We failed because of the "magic" delivery that Hilfy produced every now and then. The out swinger!

what happened that magic delivery only works against India and not against England.

True. We shouldn't have got successive whitewashes. Embarassing to think a team with such powerful batting, couldn't save even one test! Bowling is crap so nothing to say on that.

Thank you Holding. God bless. Patterson is just another run of the mill bowler. There is nothing special about him. He looked ordinary in West Indies and even more ordinary in England. Australia currently have no bowling resources. I would say Ryan Harris is the best they have, who I rate highly, but the poor guy breaks down too often and he is on the wrong side of 30.

So true. Pattin-ka-beta was not someone whom we should have given so much of respect to. But :(( Anyways, nice to hear Holding'd view on Brett Lee. He, statistically might not be one of the greatest, but was one of the fiercest fast bowlers around. People here don't rate him much but in full flight, he was one of the few fascinating bowlers around.

Lee is overrated ,He played most of his cricket in australia and his average of 30 is not good enough and in sc he was hammered.Pattinson action may not be beautiful but he has produced results and odi series is no platform to test bowlers ,he bowls a full length and can swing the ball at good pace and get good bounce.he has all the attributes .

But, there was a phase in 2007-08 when he was as good as any bowler. Yes, he was spanked for runs on many occasions, but he always gave his 100% and his pace never dipped and that too with a smooth action. His average might have been on the higher side, but there were many spells in which he had a big impact.

Lee is the ONLY cricketer from the great Australian generation who can give anyone a run for their money even now. Case in point - WC QF vs India. It looked like Ponting and Lee were the men amidst the other Aussies in their nappies.

Pattinson is not a good ODI bowler, but he is certainly a very impressive Test match bowler. During ODI's in SA, he looked the same as in this series against Eng but was a beast in test matches against NZ and Ind.

So Holding decides it based on 2 ODIs where he was coming back from a back injury. I guess he did not watch ODI matches against Lanka in Lanka and Aussie home test matches

How many overs he bowled in WI. He barely bowled anything because he suffered back injury and returned back.

It is suggested that if you quote a news piece please do mention the link as well!

tell me something new holding. i would trust even raina to thrash pattinson in ODI. nobody is a great ODI bowler anymore. even holding in his prime would have been thrashed by harbhajan in ODI. but yeah pattinson seems so generic. Brett lee was phenomenal when he arrived.

brett lee the odi bowler is much much better than pattison. pattison is a test bowler and will probably have a better test career than brett lee.
