what does that matter. west indies has england's number in h2h still they get ass kicked constantly. if pakistan had played a few more series the h2h would have been in our favour. 2007 series had already given a good picture and zaheer wasn't even there and moyo was.

Generally, such discussions turn into talks about ranking algorithms and how the formuale doesn't correctly capture the essence of cricket, or a shouting match " but in 1870 we were rank 1 while you were rank 30 etc". How does this rank even matter? We don't have a Test World Cup. We never will (thank God for small mercies). There is no way of saying which team is the strongest over a period of time in a given set of conditions. All this rankings stuff is just hypothetical babble. This is why I value the ODI WC as a competition much more than any test series. Furthermore, I don't understand why we should be upset. There was a time not too long ago, when we played really good and were #1. Now we've had a few disastrous series and our rank has naturally fallen down.

Rank matters..:beee: Remaining in Top 3-4 is always desirable. Going to 5 is like going down to Pakistan's level.. :giggle:
