CG
See pakistan batting is not full of better players,He is way better than that azar ali who looked totally out of sea.Umar akmal averages 38 with strike rate of 85 and averages 40 against aus ,60 against sa,50 against sri,wi in 70 odd odis. I was surprised he did not play in the first few matches.he looks like the only one who could accelerate the scoring towards the end. Link to comment

Marut
Umar Akmal has one of the highest ODI averages(38) and the highest strike rates(84) of all Pakistani batsmen, yet he is the one who gets targetted every time. Why? Note that Pakistan is not playing at home for a while and except UAE matches every match is like playing away. Umar has failed to deliver at crucial times, but he is still one of their best batsmen. Why would they throw away a batsman who averages 38 at a S/R of 84? He is just 22 and yet to learn a lot. Marut
we dont need a batsman who play (20) 25 knock per game . we need a pure batsman who can finish the game in pakistan's favour. How can a 20,25 knock per game player average 38? Do you mean Umar remains not out all the time - he has remained not out only 9 times. He comes down at 6 not at the top of the order. He has 16 50's and a hundred low down the order and that can't be poor. He is not a good finisher like Dhoni, that is correct. He has not lived upto the gargantuan hype, but is nevertheless a very useful player. In a batting line up filled with Misbah like tuk-tuks, he is certainly an asset to their team. but he certainly needs to become a better finisher. See the only reason Umar is getting all the brickbats is because he has failed to live up to big expectations, and not because he has been rotten. Very Few Pakistani batsmen fare better than him in either averages or strike rates. In a star studded Indian batting lineup Umar has no place, but in a Pak batting line up filled with "tortoises", Umar certainly has a place. Link to comment
