I am just talking about the practice here in Saudi Arabia. During the Holy month especially at the start people (Arabs) greet each other with Ramadan Kareem. Even we receive official e-mails. They use the word 'Id mubarak' only during Id. interestingly the word mubarak as a general word for Congratulations is used by Indians and Pakistanis as say 'Mubarak Ho' for anything, but the Arabs use the word 'Mabrook' as a general term for Congratulations. Asim Posted July 23, 2012 Author Share Posted July 23, 2012 ^ Yes, Mubarik/Mubarak is used in India/Pakistan because this is an urdu(may be hindi as well) word though adopted from Arabic, and "Mabrook" is purely arabic only, same meaning...All are different forms of arabic word "barak" which means blessings...
