superstar
Expected reactions' date=' but he wont be in the playing XI so don't sweat over it guys :P[/quote'] Yes don't sweat. Badri will be sweating on behalf of everyone :hysterical::hysterical: Link to comment
Crookbond
I would have accepted Badri's selection if he was in the India A squad for NZ tour, or if Mukund/Rayudu got selected. This just stinks of blatant regional/zonal selection(or whatever people want to call it). I don't think it is regional/zonal policy. In my books, the selectors fail to understand the process of what India A stands for and lack vision. Link to comment
Needforspeed
Our selectors are worse than our politicians. I wonder if they can be bribed? Rahul Dravid should unretire himself to save Indian cricket. Link to comment
Needforspeed
Laxman out, Dravid out. Gambhir and Sehwag totally out of form in Test matches for the last two years. People like Badri in the squad. Zaheer is an old man. Two other fast bowlers Yadav and Ishant both brainless. So we will be fielding a Ranji Trophy strength team against the English. Link to comment
cowboysfan
whats the point of VVS retiring early if we dont blood a young player instead of selecting a has been in Badrinath? Link to comment
kubrickian
whats the point of VVS retiring early if we dont blood a young player instead of selecting a has been in Badrinath? Exactly. It would have made infinitely more sense if they had selected someone from under 19 that nobody has even heard of than include Badrinath who may retire in a year or two and also proved to be a failure against good quality pace bowling. No foresight as usual from BCCI. Link to comment
Crookbond
Even if there was no youngster selected (we already have a few in our side) one should use the A tours to pick players. It's not like you get up one day, sit under a banyan tree and come up with a name! Link to comment
The Outsider
What is the IQ level of these selectors? Cheeka has made Indian selection a personal fiefdom for Chennai players. The guy is such a disgusting scum every time he says or does something it reeks of nepotism and favoritism. Bradmanath can't hold a cricket bat properly against anything over 85 mph and now we have the idiot in the test team again. Link to comment
asterix
Cheeka the mountain troll... :cantstop: Link to comment
skindia
even robin uthappa would have been better choice compared to dalbadri.. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
 He couldn't even play likes of Andre Russell and Darren Sammy confidently and even Sammy was making him hop. What's the point of going to him? I would rather see Rohit in the tests. Kis galti ka badla le rahe hain Srikkanth and co. hamare se? Maybe we should be thankful he didn't select his son thinking the team was being selected for T20s Link to comment
Sooda
Dissapointing. Not picking Rohit is understandable, but Badri, really... Viru at 5 is one position too high. He's best at 6 with Dhoni at 7. Two aggressive strokeplayers down the order. No I dont think so, if he bats with another specialist bat at the other end he can play his natural game whilst the no 6- Kohli -keeps one end ticking...6 for Viru is a bit low I am not sure he can bat with the tail and means he may not get as many overs to bat when/if our tail folds Link to comment

Crookbond
Mark Richardson blames IPL for NZ cricket situation http://www.espncricinfo.com/newzealand/content/current/story/578036.html For our key players, the IPL has become their greatest earner. When you are under pressure at the international level, you need an element of desperation to succeed. If success for your country is your livelihood, it's what you must have to perform. Does that three-year contract in the IPL take away that little bit of desperation, even at a subconscious level, away from your performance when you're playing for your country? I think that mentality has crept in just a little bit when it comes to our top players playing for New Zealand. Do we see similar signs in Indian cricket too? Rohit Sharma is a prime example. Trichromatic
Priorities have certainly changed after IPL. Representing your country is not the only option now and it's hard for international cricket to compete with IPL in terms of money. Link to comment
Needforspeed
Isn't playing for your country motivation enough? I would like to believe so. IPL money is always welcome of course, but I dont think it takes away from the motivation while playing for your country. Link to comment
IKnowU
Playing for your country should have some value to it.......atm not many series that are played have any value to it other then to show up win/lose and nothing happens. So what is the big deal about playing for your country? Unless its the World Cup or a history long test rivalry, there isnt much to play for. Where as IPL or other leagues have stakes to play for consistently as well as the players own security about their future. Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Yeah before IPL they were setting the world alight by being the top 3 in both formats. Wait what...? Link to comment
