Graeme Smith 100th test as captain

Great achievement and the SA board deserves lot of praise for keeping faith in him. had his tough moments but the board fully backed him and now he will probably see his side being the dominant side for at least a couple of years. His record in the first 3 years as captain: 36 tests played, won 13, lost 12. (Out of the 13 tests won, 9 were vs WI, BD and Zim) 11 series played, won 4, lost 6, drawn 2 - The only series he won was vs WI, Zim and BD. Lost in India, Pak and SL away from home, could only draw vs NZ in NZ, lost to Aus home and away, lost to England at home). In First 3 years a drawn series in England was the best he had achieved. His ODI results weren't great either. Included a 5-0 whitewash in SL and a 5-1 thrashing in NZ.

Well to be fair he got a head start. His first series as captain iirc was vs England where he scored 2 double centuries and won the series vs Eng against all odds. Helped him get a bit of leash. But IMO last 2-3 years ever since Amla's 2nd coming + AB and Kallis also turning it on they now have batting for all conditions and obviously a world class bowling attack, he's still 31-32 unless he gives up. I could see him go on till 150 tests as captain.

Popular myth - that series was drawn : 2-2.
