Your Team of oldies who never played T20

If you have to create a team of yesteryear players who never played T20 but would have been a great T20 team and could have challenged any team of today, what would be? Mine would be: Kris Srikanth David Boon Sir Viv Richards Mark Gratbatch Ian Botham Kapil Dev Chris Cairns Moin Khan Wasim Akram Bishan Bedi Saqlain Mushtaq

Greatbatch one hit wonder. By no accounts he was a fierce hitter. Boon was also more an accumulator. I would deifnitely have Simon O Donnell. Terrific hitter, useful bowler and a good fielder.

Imran was an accumulator as a batsman, not sure if he merits a spot...even as a bowler alone there are better options for a limited overs player

I guess we would want guys having great fielding skills, I would prefer Johnty rhodes who can give me quick fire 30s and also will stop lot many runs then these two.

Imran? I am not sure whether I will take him in ODI also and you went for him in T20. Akram, Kapil and Richards are must for any T20 team.

O' Donnell and Waugh came up together and were picked to be the future of Australian cricket - too bad that O' Donnell's career got cut of because of his cancer. He could have even been a really good test player like Waugh who changed his game to become a batsman primarily. He surely had the potential to be a batsman averaging 40 and a bowler averaging 30-35. On topic, I think Martin Crowe would have been the baap of the T20 format - extremely deft at placing the ball and also one of the cleanest hitters in cricket.

Martin Crowe wasn't even that great a odi batsman so not sure how successful he would be at T20s. Crowe had a great 92 world cup and just like Greatbatch that tourney defined him as a batsman and a captain, but other than that tourney he wasn't top ofthe danger-men in odis. He wasn't the sort of plater who could take the game away from you. He was a very ood batsman but IMO even someone like Aravinda De Silva was better than him in shorter formats and would have made much more of an impact in T20s.

He wasn't consistent at all. He had a couple of outstanding innings and then nothing. He was pretty close to Afridi of his times.

Ok, dont know too much about him...I think I was semi jesting. rkt, you totally miss the point man. Point being there is no point... :P

Imran never needed to go for quick runs most of the time as in Tests he put a price on his wkt and in odis he started to come up the order, but he could hit if the situation so demanded. I have no doubt in T20 he would have adjusted and if not I would have replaced him with someone like Keith Miller, Botham or one more West Indian By the way you could have th WI team of 80s play the T20s and they would be great. Other than Larry Gomes and maybe Haynes all their batsmen were strokeplayers and taking on their pace attack woul dhave been extremely difficult. That's why you will see so many WI in the T20 squad of old-timers. I didn't go with players from older eras, though players like Trumper would have been suited to the format, as T20 is too different a game and I'm not sure which players would hve excelled the format. That's why I chose to stick with players who I knew would be a good fit for the T20 format.

Yes my side is packed with WI-ians... to make it more interesting we could stick to players who have played no limited overs cricket, not even ODIs...though it is harder to judge how the older generation would have coped...there were guys who were aggressive for their zamana...Compton for instance... I have often thought about this Imaginary India side being exciting to watch in an ODI or T20 Mushtaq Ali, Mankad, Umrigar, M A K Pataudi ©, Borde, C K Nayudu, Kunderan (wk), Phadkar, Nadkarni, L Amar Singh, M Nissar... Deep agressive -if a bit inconsistent- batting lineup, very good new ball attack and Phadkars medium pace to support...Spin bowling is mainly of the left arm sort with Nadkarnis vice tight stuff and Mankads more attacking spin with other options in Umrigar, Borde...and a team that fields well too...would be nice to fit Solkar and/or Durrani in
