Spiderguy252 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Anyone know whether he made that planned trip to Australia to put right his short ball problem? He said he would, many moons ago.
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Raina has a good head on his shoulders' date=' he also seems to be a good thinker, exactly opposite of Sreesanth, there is hope for him as a test bat.[/quote'] What is the need for this. Are you on mod payroll, you must be comparing a batsman to a bowler. Bewakuf. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Sachin=GOD Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I still have high hopes for Raina and I think he can still be a good Test batsman.

Crookbond Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Currently, the Indian team needs better shot selection.
Old guy Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Currently' date=' the Indian team needs better [s']shot selection. +1
Crookbond Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Suresh Raina and Test match promotion http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-india-2012/content/current/story/574744.html Interesting comment "I have been discussing my batting with Duncan Fletcher (the coach). In Twenty20 and 50 overs you have to play your shots. I am now looking to duck the [short] ball. At the same time I need to score runs, [so I need to] tap the ball and take singles. It's all mental. If you are playing Test cricket, you have to duck the ball. In England I did not do well. I got out once to the short ball and four-five times to Swann. Still, I have done well in Test cricket. I need to do well in two more [ODI] games and then I can be available for the No. 6 or No. 7 slot [in Tests]." I don't understand this - How does doing well in ODI's make you get into Test match teams? :dontknow:
Old guy Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 ++ had he done well in australia even in odis then maybe i will say ok but he has always been awesome player in subcontinent performing here changes nothing
jj_28 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-india-2012/content/current/story/574744.html Interesting comment I don't understand this - How does doing well in ODI's make you get into Test match teams? :dontknow: Wasn't Pujara suppose to take over from Dravid? Sehwag Gambhir ? Tendulkar Laxman Kohli maybe Laxman is retiring
Ultimate_Game Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 You can't fault Raina for making it into the Test team. In fact This is why Indian fans love the guy. He has no pretentions about himself and clearly wants to make it in Tests and is willing to put in the hard yards. Worrysome thing would have been if he had said he doesn't care about Tests and will focus solely on the shorter format.
Crookbond Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I am not faulting Raina. I am questioning the thought process of the people who are taking such decisions. Raina the bloke is too good not to be around the team.
GautiMaan Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Where else is he supposed to perform to make a case for himself? He hardly plays any domestic matches.

BERGKAMP Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 good attitude, but he is just not cut out for tests.
zep1706 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 He's one of my favorite players for the kind of commitment he shows, but not sure he has it in him to succeed in test cricket.
